New Orleans
named Team of the Week
After posting a perfect 5-0 week, including a Sun Belt sweep of
second-place Florida Atlantic, New Orleans has been named
CollegeBaseballInsider.com Team of the Week.
The Privateers posted a 9-3 win at Southern Miss on Tuesday and
defeated Southern 12-5 at home on Wednesday. UNO entertained FAU for the weekend
and recorded a 10-6 win on Friday, 6-5 on Saturday and 6-4 on Sunday.
Honorable mention goes to UC Davis, which defeated Stanford and
took two of three Big West games from Long Beach State. Stephen F. Austin went
5-0, with two wins over Texas-Pan American and a three-game Southland sweep of
Texas State. LSU defeated Louisiana-Lafayette and swept a three-game SEC set at
Kentucky. Bowling Green earned a three-game MAC sweep at Ohio. Florida State had
a 5-0 week, with two wins at Stetson and a three-game ACC sweep at Clemson.
Washington swept a three-game Pac-10 set at USC. St. John’s defeated Fairleigh
Dickinson and swept a three-game Big East series from West Virginia. Georgia
Tech took two of three from Coastal Carolina. Duquesne won at Ohio and took two
of three A-10 contests from Xavier. Wagner rebounded from a loss at Lafayette to
sweep a four-game NEC set against Quinnipiac. Central Connecticut State bounced
back from a defeat at Connecticut to sweep a four-game NEC series at Sacred
Heart. Western Illinois came back from two losses at Nebraska to defeat Coe and
sweep a four-game Summit League set from Southern Utah.
