North Florida, San Diego State are Co-Teams of the Week

The University of North Florida, transitioning into Division I, took two of three from nationally-ranked Mississippi State this past weekend. San Diego State won three of four against its cross-town rival, No. 8 San Diego. The Ospreys and Aztecs are CollegeBaseballInsider.com Co-Teams of the Week.

North Florida, a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference, averaged 10 runs per game against MSU. After falling to the Bulldogs 8-2 on Friday, the Ospreys regrouped to win 17-9 on Saturday and 11-6 on Sunday.

 

San Diego State averaged 11 runs per game against the highly-acclaimed Torero pitching staff. The Aztecs won 11-2 at home on Friday. They split a doubleheader on Saturday, dropping a 17-11 road decision before claiming a 15-2 win in the nightcap at Tony Gwynn Stadium. After a rainout on Sunday, SDSU took the final game 7-1 on Monday at USD.


Honorable mention this week goes to Arizona State, which defeated nationally-ranked Vanderbilt and Oregon State as well as Miami (Ohio), to capture the DeMarini Invitational. Long Beach State took two of three from nationally-ranked Rice. Ole Miss registered three convincing victories over Minnesota. Ohio State earned three wins at the Service Academies Spring Classic in Millington, Tenn. North Carolina won three at Florida Atlantic, including a pair of comeback victories. St. John’s went 3-0 at the Johnny Gill Memorial in Rock Hill, S.C. Coastal Carolina won four games in its tournament. Cal State Fullerton took two of three at TCU. Cal Poly won two of three at Alabama. After going 16-35 a season ago, including 7-22 on the road, Northern Colorado split a four-game series at nationally-ranked Texas A&M, including a doubleheader sweep on Saturday.
