Georgia
named Team of the Week
After
posting a perfect 5-0 week, Georgia has been named CollegeBaseballInsider.com
Team of the Week.
The Bulldogs won a home-and-home series
with Clemson before sweeping a three-game SEC series against Top 10 South
Carolina. Georgia moved into first place in the Eastern Division of the SEC with
a 9-3 conference mark.
Honorable mention goes to Cal State
Fullerton, which defeated Loyola Marymount and took two of three Big West
contests at Top 10 UC Irvine. Miami (Fla.) went 5-0 and rose to the top spot in
the CBI composite poll by defeating Florida Atlantic and Florida International
and sweeping a three-game ACC set against Clemson. Oklahoma State won two of
three Big 12 games at Top 10 Missouri. Florida State went 5-0, with wins over
Florida and at Jacksonville and a three-game ACC sweep of nationally-ranked
Virginia. St. John’s defeated New York Tech and took two of three Big East
contests at Louisville. Notre Dame swept a three-game Big East series with
Rutgers to move into a tie for first in the conference. Ole Miss went 4-0 with a
win over Memphis and a three-game SEC sweep of Top 10 Vanderbilt. TCU went 5-0
with victories over Baylor and at Texas State and a three-game Mountain West
sweep of Air Force. Ball State had a 5-0 week with wins over Indiana Tech and
Dayton and a three-game MAC sweep of Buffalo. Boston College was also 5-0, with
wins at Northeastern and at Connecticut and a three-game ACC sweep of Duke. Ohio
State got a win over Toledo and took three of four Big 10 contests from
Minnesota. Washington defeated Portland and won two of three against Pac-10
rival Arizona. St. Bonaventure went 5-0 with two wins over Buffalo and a
three-game A-10 sweep of Dayton. Texas A&M was 5-0 with a pair of wins over
Stephen F. Austin and a three-game Big 12 sweep of Kansas State. Kennesaw State
also went 5-0, with wins over Alabama State and at Georgia State and a
three-game Atlantic Sun sweep of East Tennessee State. Dallas Baptist rebounded
from a loss at Oklahoma to defeat Rice and sweep a three-game set from Northern
Colorado. San Francisco beat nationally-ranked California and swept a three-game
WCC series from Loyola Marymount. Houston took three Conference USA contests
from UCF. South Dakota State opened Summit League play with a four-game sweep of
Centenary.
