In Athens, Ga., Connor Tate had an RBI single in the bottom of the 20th as UGA edged Clemson in a 6:33 marathon. Tucker Maxwell drew a leadoff walk in the 20th for the Bulldogs (30-8) and moved to second on an errant pickoff attempt. He advanced to third on an infield hit by Riley King (3-8). With one away, Tate singled to left to bring home Maxwell with the game-winner. Kyle Wilkie had an RBI single and scored on a triple by Bryar Hawkins in the sixth as the Tigers (25-12) took a 2-0 lead. Shepherd had a run-scoring double and came home on an error in the seventh to knot the score at 2-2. Darryn Pasqua (1-0) tossed five scoreless innings with two hits, two walks and seven strikeouts in recording the win.
In Stanford, Calif., Alejandro Lara had three hits, including a homer, two runs and three RBI as UC Davis knocked off Stanford. Lara scored the first run in a four-run fourth, and added a three-run homer in the seventh. Garret Kelly (1 for 3, 2 R, 2 RBI) went deep in the eighth as the Aggies (11-18) went up 8-2. Tim Tawa belted a three-run homer to cap a four-run eighth for the Cardinal (24-6).
No. 2 Mississippi State 5, Texas Southern 1
In Starkville, Miss., Justin Foscue had an RBI single to snap a 1-1 tie and spark a four-run eighth as MSU edged TSU. Dustin Skelton had a two-run homer to cap the eighth for the Bulldogs (32-6). Christian Sanchez (1 for 3, R) and Nic Garza had the two hits for the Tigers (11-26).
