Team of the Week

Rice is named Team of the Week

After going 5-0 last week, including three wins at the Houston College Classic this past weekend, Rice has been named the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Team of the Week.

 

Rice defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Houston before posting victories over Oklahoma, nationally-ranked Texas, and Texas Tech in Minute Maid Park.

 

Honorable mention goes to UC Irvine, which earned midweek wins over Loyola Marymount and USC before recording three consecutive shutouts over San Francisco. South Carolina defeated UNC Asheville and posted two wins over nationally-ranked Clemson. Stanford bounced back from a Monday loss to Saint Mary’s to defeat Nevada and sweep nationally-ranked Cal State Fullerton. UCF defeated nationally-ranked Missouri before sweeping Central Michigan. Western Michigan got wins in Florida over Villanova, Bowling Green and Northeastern to start 6-1, its best start since 1971. Long Beach State rebounded from a loss to San Diego to sweep a three-game series with nationally-ranked Wichita State. Radford defeated James Madison and swept a three-game set with Evansville to start 6-1. Elon won at UNC Wilmington before posting home victories over East Carolina and three against Delaware State to start 9-0. Florida Atlantic notched five wins, beating Mount St. Mary’s and sweeping a four-game series with Eastern Michigan. Georgia State took four from IPFW to start 8-0. Washington State won twice at UNLV and took three at home against Wright State to start 7-1. Canisius headed south and won three of four at Appalachian State.
