Walker leads South
Carolina past Wofford
Oklahoma wins at UALR, UC Irvine nips
Pepperdine, Kansas tops WSU
In Spartanburg, S.C., Christian Walker went 4 for
5 with a double, two runs and one RBI as No. 2 South Carolina
defeated Wofford 9-3 Wednesday in front of 2,118 fans at Russell
King Field. The Gamecocks (36-8) scored in four of the first
five innings in building a 6-0 lead. Evan Marzilli went 3 for 3
with two runs and was a homer short of the cycle for South
Carolina. James Foster had three hits and one run, while David
Roney belted a two-run homer in the sixth for the Terriers
(19-26). Adam Westmoreland (1-1, 5.1 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 4 BB, 5 K)
was the starter and winner for the Gamecocks.
No. 12 Oklahoma 7, UALR 3
In Little Rock, Ark., Chris Ellison went 2 for 3
with a homer and two RBI as Oklahoma topped UALR in front of
1,966 fans at Dickey-Stephens Park. Ellison had a leadoff homer
in the third to break a 1-1 tie and put the Sooners (32-13)
ahead to stay. He added a sacrifice squeeze in the fourth.
Cameron Seitzer went 2 for 4 with two RBI for OU. Sean Bignall
went 3 for 4 with one run and one RBI for the Trojans (16-27).
Steven Bruce (2-0, 5 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K) recorded the
win for the Sooners.
UC Irvine 5, Pepperdine 4
In Irvine, Calif., Sean Madigan had a three-run
double to cap a four-run eighth as UC Irvine rallied past
Pepperdine at Cicerone Field at Anteater Ballpark. Nate Johnson
had a RBI triple and scored in a two-run second for the Waves
(18-21). The Anteaters (29-12) trailed 4-1 before their rally in
the eighth. Jimmy Litchfield (2-0) got the final two outs in the
top of the eighth to earn the victory, while Brian Hernandez
fanned one in the ninth for his ninth save.
Kansas 11, Wichita State 2
In Wichita, Kan., Casey Lytle went 3 for 4 with
two runs as Kansas completed a two-game sweep of Wichita State
in front of 5,096 fans at Eck Stadium. The Jayhawks (22-24)
built a 7-0 lead after three. Chris Manship had two hits and two
RBI, while Jimmy Waters homered and scored twice for Kansas.
Kevin Hall and Micah Green both had two hits for the Shockers
(28-21). Thomas Taylor (5-3, 3 IP, 3 H, 4 K) registered the win
for KU.
Georgia Southern 13, Charleston Southern 12

In Statesboro, Ga., Arthur Owens had a
game-winning single with two outs in the bottom of the 11th as
Georgia Southern outscored Charleston Southern in front of 1,327
fans at J.I. Clements Stadium. The Buccaneers (22-23) scored
three in the top of the ninth to take a 12-10 lead before the
Eagles (26-19) rallied for two in the bottom of the ninth to
force the extra frames. Victor Roache went 2 for 3 with two
walks and three RBI, while Michael Burruss went 3 for 6 with a
double, a homer, three runs and two RBI for GSU. Alex Tomasovich
went 5 for 5 with two runs and one RBI, while Matt Still went 4
for 6 with three runs and one RBI for CSU. Derek Smith homered
and drove in two for the Bucs.
Southeast Missouri State 6, Arkansas 5
In Fayetteville, Ark., Ky Burgess had a
run-scoring single to cap a three-run eighth as Southeast
Missouri State edged Arkansas at Baum Stadium. Burgess and Brent
Russell both had two hits and two RBI for the Redhawks (28-17).
James McCann (2 for 4) and Franco Broyles both knocked in two
for the Razorbacks (30-14). Logan Mahon (5-3, 2.1 IP, 2 H, 2 K)
earned the victory for SEMO.
