The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) announced a three-year agreement with the Staten Island Yankees to host the MAAC Baseball Championship from 2018-20 at the 7,000-seat Richmond County Bank Ballpark, home of the Single-A affiliate of the New York Yankees.

Ford Pemberton has been promoted to volunteer assistant coach and Jason McDonald has returned to Nicholls State as director of player development.

Kennard McDowell of UNCW has signed a free agent contract with the Colorado Rockies and will report to the organization’s team in Grand Junction, Colo. He was an All-CAA selection in 2015 and made the All-Regional team this season in Columbia, S.C.

Matt Lawson has been promoted to assistant coach at his alma mater, Missouri State. Lawson was a two-time All-MVC performer as a player. He will serve as lead hitting instructor and recruiting coordinator under head coach Keith Guttin.

Dave Nakama has returned to Washington as a volunteer assistant. He was associate head coach under Lindsay Meggs from 2010-12 with the Huskies. Nakama was head coach at San Jose State from 2013-16 and was head coach at Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, Ore. this past season.

Matt Swope has been elevated to assistant coach at Maryland. He will serve as hitting coach and recruiting coordinator. Swope was director of operations for the Terrapins the past five seasons.

Zach Prendergast, a graduate of Seton Hall, had his independent league contract purchased by the St. Louis Cardinals. Prendergast was 2-0 in four starts for the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks with 25 strikeouts in 26 innings.

Phil Cundari has been hired as pitching coach at Rutgers. He was on staff at Seton Hall for the past 17 seasons and was 2011 National Pitching Coach of the Year.

Tom Marcinczyk, a four-year starter at Rutgers, has signed a professional contract with the Somerset Patriots of the Atlantic League. Max Herrmann of the Scarlet Knights signed with the Los Angeles Angels.

Mark Royer has been added as an assistant coach at Massachusetts. He was a volunteer assistant at Penn for the past three seasons.

Jack Hoehl is the new director of operations at Alabama. He held the same position for the past four seasons at Kentucky.

Noah Sanders will serve as an assistant coach at Little Rock. He previously was on staff at Arkansas State.

Zach Lucas has joined the staff at Indiana as an assistant coach. He was a four-year letter-winner at Louisville and spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach at ETSU.

Evan McDonald of Georgia Southern signed a free agent contract with the Toronto Blue Jays.

Clay Van Hook and Clay Overcash have joined Skip Johnson’s staff at Oklahoma. Van Hook spent the past six seasons at Rice, while Overcash was a scout for the Chicago White Sox for the past 18 years.

Iowa will compete as the USA National Team at the 83rd National Baseball Congress World Series from July 29-August 6 in Wichita, Kansas.
