After two seasons as head coach at Louisiana Tech, Greg Goff has been hired to lead the program at Alabama.
Prior to Goff’s arrival in Ruston, the Bulldogs won 15 games in 2014. They improved to 25-27 in 2015 before going 42-20 this season, including earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. It was the first NCAA appearance for Louisiana Tech since 1987.
A native of Jackson, Tenn., Goff was head coach for four seasons at Montevallo (2004-07) and seven seasons at Campbell (2008-14). His teams have reached 40 wins six times, including four of the past five years (final three at Campbell and this year at Louisiana Tech).
While at Campbell, Goff had a record of 224-174. He was Big South Coach of the Year in 2013 after the Camels captured the league’s regular season title. Campbell won the Big South Tournament in 2014 and earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Goff was 152-84 in four seasons at Montevallo, including 43 wins in 2006 and 47 in 2007. He led Montevallo to its first NCAA Division II College World Series appearance in 2006, claiming a third-place finish.
Before becoming a head coach, Goff was an assistant coach for five seasons at Kentucky.
Goff played at Jackson State Community College and pitched at Delta State. He is married to the former Tina Newbill and the couple has four daughters: Kara, Kiley, Kolby and Kenzie.
