OMAHA, Neb. – CCU head coach Gary Gilmore earned his 1,100th career win in Thursday’s 4-3 victory over Arizona. Gilmore is one of six active coaches with 1,000 wins and a CWS title.

Coastal Carolina recorded its 55th victory, the top mark in the country. The 55 wins ties a program record for a single season, set in 2010.

The Chanticleers went 6-0 in elimination games during the 2016 NCAA Tournament and 5-0 at the College World Series. CCU is the first team to win five elimination games at the CWS since Oregon State in 2006.

CCU catcher David Parrett earned his second collegiate title. He was a member of the Iowa Western Community College team that won the Junior College World Series in 2014. IWCC is located in Council Bluffs, Iowa, 10 minutes outside of Omaha.

For Thursday’s championship game, the attendance was 18,823. The total attendance for the 2016 College World Series was 341,667, the third-highest total in history.
