Lubbock Super Regional – Won by No. 9 Stanford
No. 9 Stanford 9, No. 8 Texas Tech 0 (TTU eliminated) (box score)
Alex Williams tossed a two-hit shutout and Brock Jones belted three home runs as Stanford blanked TTU to earn its 17th trip to Omaha and first since 2008. Williams (4-2) walked one and struck out 10 in earning the win. Jones had a solo shot in the first, a grand slam in the sixth and another solo dinger in the eighth. Troy had a two-run homer in the second for the Cardinal (38-15). Cole Stilwell had both hits for the Red Raiders (39-17).
Nashville Super Regional – Won by No. 4 Vanderbilt
No. 4 Vanderbilt 4, No. 13 East Carolina 1 (ECU eliminated) (box score)
Jack Leiter fanned 10 in 7.0 innings as Vandy swept ECU to advance to the College World Series for the fifth time in program history. Leiter (10-3) allowed two hits, three walks and one run. Nick Maldonado worked two perfect innings with a pair of strikeouts to record his eighth save. Javier Vaz and Jayson Gonzalez drew one-out walks in the fifth, each stole a base and scored on a single by Carter Young to make it 2-0. Josh Moylan had a leadoff homer in the seventh as the Pirates (44-17) pulled within one at 2-1. Enrique Bradfield Jr. had an RBI double and Dominic Keegan drew a bases-loaded walk in the top of the ninth as the Commodores (45-15) added a pair of insurance runs.
Tucson Super Regional
No. 12 Ole Miss 12, No. 5 Arizona 3 (box score)
Peyton Chatagnier had a two-run homer to cap a six-run second as Ole Miss evened its series at Arizona. Jacob Gonzalez went 3 for 4 with two doubles, a homer, three runs and three RBI for the Rebels (45-21). Doug Nikhazy (12-2, 5.1 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 10 K) earned the win, while Austin Miller (3.2 IP, 4 H, R, 6 K) registered his first save. Branden Boissiere went 4 for 5 with a double and a run, while Donta Williams was 2 for 5 with a homer for the Wildcats (44-16).
Austin Super Regional
No. 2 Texas 4, USF 3 (box score)
Eric Kennedy delivered a game-winning RBI double in the bottom of the ninth as UT edged USF to begin their Super Regional set. Zach Zubia had an RBI fielder’s choice in the first, Mike Antico drove in a run with a double in the second, and Kennedy (2 for 3) added a sac fly in the seventh as the Longhorns (46-15) built a 3-0 lead. Daniel Cantu (2 for 4) had a solo homer and Drew Brutcher belted a two-run dinger with two away in the top of the ninth as the Bulls (31-29) tied it at 3-3. Ty Madden pitched 6.2 shutout innings for UT with three hits, four walks and nine strikeouts.
Fayetteville Super Regional
NC State 6, No. 1 Arkansas 5 (box score)
Jose Torres had a two-run homer to put NCSU ahead to stay and spark a four-run fourth in a win at Arkansas to force a third game on Sunday. Charlie Welch had a two-run homer in the top of the first to give the Razorbacks (50-12) the early lead. Tyler McDonough had an RBI groundout in the third to put the Wolfpack (34-18) on the board. Torres gave NCSU the lead the following inning, and dingers by Luca Tresh and Lojtech Mensik later in the frame gave the visitors a 5-2 advantage. An RBI groundout by Jarrett in the sixth gave the Wolfpack a 6-2 lead. Brady Slavens homered to spark a three-run seventh as Arkansas pulled within one at 6-5. Evan Justice kept Arkansas off the board over the final two frames with four punchouts to earn his 11th save, securing the win for Sam Highfill (8-2, 6.1 IP, 2 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 5 K).
Knoxville Super Regional
#3 Tennessee 4, LSU 2 (box score)
Chad Dallas struck out a career-high 12 in 6.0 innings as UT edged LSU to kick off their Super Regional series. Dallas (11-1) allowed five hits and one earned run. Sean Hunley worked three scoreless innings with four punchouts to notch his ninth save. Cade Doughty (2 for 4) homered in the second for the Tigers (38-24) before Connor Pavolony tied it for the Volunteers (49-16) with an RBI groundout in the third. Drew Bianco (3 for 4) stole third and scored on a throwing error in the fifth as LSU went up 2-1. Drew Gilbert had an RBI fielder’s choice and scored on a base hit by Jordan Beck (2 for 4) as part of a three-run sixth as UT took a 4-2 lead.
Columbia Super Regional
Dallas Baptist 6, Virginia 5 (box score)
Andrew Benefield ripped a mammoth, opposite-field homer in the bottom of the seventh inning to break a 5-5 tie, and after a nearly four-hour rain delay, first baseman Andres Sosa made a game-saving, lunging catch of a line drive with a runner on third to save the game as Dallas Baptist edged Virginia. The Patriots (41-16) picked up their first Super Regional win in school history and stand one win from their first trip to Omaha. The Cavaliers (33-25) scored five times in the fifth inning to take a 5-2 lead, thanks in large part to Devin Ortiz, who hit a three-run double in the outburst. Dallas Baptist, as it did a couple of times in the Regional round, rallied. Jace Grady had an RBI groundout to make it 5-3 in the bottom of the fifth, and Sosa added a two-run homer an inning later to tie the game. Ray Gaither (3-2) struck out four and allowed two hits in two innings of relief, and Peyton Sherlin (1 IP, 2 K) and Zane Russell (1 IP, second save) closed as the trio combined to allow two hits in four scoreless innings for the Patriots.
Starkville Super Regional
No. 7 Mississippi State 9, No. 10 Notre Dame 8 (box score)
Rowdey Jordan went 3 for 5 with a homer, three runs and two RBI, and Kamren James and Luke Hancock added two RBI apiece as Mississippi State slipped past Notre Dame to open their Super Regional series. In a back-and-forth affair before a huge crowd of 14,385 at Dudy Noble Field, the Bulldogs (44-15) took the lead for good when Logan Tanner hit a solo homer in the seventh inning, and Landon Sims (2 IP, 3 K) closed for his 10th save. Zach Prajzner went 3 for 4 with a homer, two runs and four RBI, including a three-run homer in the fifth inning that gave the Fighting Irish (33-12) a 7-3 lead in the fifth inning. Brooks Coetzee homered and drove in two for the Irish, and Tanner Allen homered and scored three times for the Bulldogs.
