No. 10 NC State 8, No. 7 Georgia 5 (NCSU advances to College World Series)
Alec Makarewicz homered and knocked in three as NCSU defeated UGA to earn the final spot in the College World Series. Tre Phelps (3 for 5, 2 R, 2 RBI) smacked a two-run homer in the bottom of the second for the Bulldogs (43-17) before Garrett Pennington belted a two-run shot in the third for the Wolfpack (38-21) to level the score at 2-2. Matt Heavner scored on a passed ball in the fourth for NCSU and Makarewicz added an RBI single for a 4-2 advantage. Makarewicz capped the scoring for the victors with a two-run dinger in the eighth. Charlie Condon went deep in the ninth in his final at-bat for UGA. Jacob Dudan (4-2, 1.2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 2 K) earned the win in relief, while Derrick Smith pitched the final three innings with one hit, one run, two walks and two strikeouts to record his eighth save.
