Coastal Carolina wins Raleigh Regional

Seth Lancaster had the go-ahead two-run single in a four-run ninth as Coastal Carolina rallied past NC State to win the Raleigh Regional. The game began on Monday evening and had multiple delays before finishing on Tuesday afternoon. The game was scheduled to start at 6:20 p.m., but was delayed due to rain and began at 7:40 p.m. There was a 39-minute rain delay in the fifth, with the Chanticleers (47-16) holding a 3-2 advantage. The Wolfpack (38-22) took the lead with two in the sixth and added an insurance run in the eighth to take a 5-3 advantage. Coastal used a pair of walks, a sacrifice bunt and an infield single to load the bases before play was suspended at 12:05 a.m. due to more rain. The contest resumed at 2:02 p.m. on Tuesday. A groundout to first made it a one-run contest and a hit-by-pitch reloaded the bases. Lancaster (2 for 3) singled to right to plate a pair and give the Chants a 6-5 lead. Billy Cooke added a run-scoring base hit to make it a 7-5 game. Mike Morrison pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth to record his 10th save and give Coastal its third Super Regional appearance. Preston Palmeiro had three hits and one RBI, while Evan Mendoza drove in two for NCSU.

Baton Rouge

#1 LSU 5, #2 Rice 2 (Rice eliminated)

LSU wins Baton Rouge Regional

Jared Poche’ allowed one hit over six scoreless innings of relief as LSU rallied past Rice to win the Baton Rouge Regional. Poche’ (9-4) fanned six and retired 16 straight at one point. Hunter Newman hurled a 1-2-3 ninth for his eighth save. The Owls (38-24) tallied single runs in the first two frames before the Tigers (45-19) scored three in the seventh and two in the eighth. Greg Deichmann went 3 for 4 with a homer and two RBI, while Michael Papierski also went deep for the victors. Grayson Lewis had two hits and a run for Rice.

Columbia

#1 South Carolina 10, #2 UNCW 5 (UNCW eliminated)

South Carolina wins Columbia Regional

Destino had a two-run single to spark a five-run fourth as South Carolina outscored UNCW to advance to the Super Regionals. DC Arendas and John Jones both knocked in two for the Gamecocks (46-16). Casey Golden went 1 for 3 with one run and two RBI for the Seahawks (41-19).
