In Fullerton, Calif., Connor Seabold and Colton Eastman (pictured, courtesy of Cal State Fullerton Athletic Communications) combined on the shutout as Cal State Fullerton blanked Stanford to open the 2017 season. The game was moved from Friday to Thursday in advance of expected inclement weather. Seabold (1-0) worked 7.0 innings with five hits, one walk and five strikeouts to record the victory, while Eastman fanned five of the seven hitters he faced over the final two frames to register his first save. The Titans (1-0) were held to three hits, but had two back-to-back in the sixth for the game’s lone run. Hank LoForte had a two-out double for Fullerton’s first hit of the game. Dillion Persinger followed with a single to left center to give the Titans a 1-0 advantage. Kris Bubic (2 H, R, 2 BB) struck out 10 in 6.0 innings to suffer the loss for the Cardinal (0-1).
