Princeton wins Ivy League Championship
In Princeton, N.J., Danny Baer scored on a wild pitch to cap a two-run rally in the bottom of the ninth of Game 3 as Princeton downed Yale to win the Ivy League title. Cameron Mingo (6-3) went the distance for the Tigers (24-18) with eight hits, one run, two walks and five strikeouts. Danny Hoy had two hits and scored once for Princeton. Nate Adams had three hits, including a double and a triple, and a run for the Bulldogs (19-28-1). In Sunday’s first game, Chad Powers (6-3) allowed four hits and two runs in seven innings with two walks and eight strikeouts to record the win for the Tigers. Asher Lee-Tyson had two hits and two RBI for Princeton. Simon Whiteman had two hits and a run for Yale.
No. 1 Florida 10, No. 9 Vanderbilt 6
In Gainesville, Fla., Deacon Liput went 2 for 4 with a homer, two runs and two RBI as Florida won its SEC series against Vanderbilt. The Gators (18-8, 43-9) scored multiple runs in four innings, including three in the first and third. Alex Faedo (10-1, 6 IP, 8 H, 6 R, BB, 8 K) earned the victory. Bryan Reynolds homered and knocked in three for the Commodores (15-12, 37-15).
No. 7 South Carolina 10, No. 2 Texas A&M 7
In Columbia, S.C., Dom Thompson-Williams went 3 for 3 with two homers, four runs and three RBI as South Carolina salvaged the finale of its SEC series with Texas A&M. Josh Reagan (2-2, 4.1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 4 BB, 2 K) earned the win in relief, while Tyler Johnson fanned the final batter for his sixth save. Hunter Melton (1 for 4, 3 R, 3 RBI), Ryne Birk (3 for 5, 2 RBI) and Ronnie Gideon all homered for the Aggies (18-9, 39-11).
No. 6 Louisville 6, No. 12 NC State 1
In Louisville, Ky., Kyle Funkhouser allowed two hits and one run in seven innings as Louisville completed an ACC sweep of NC State. Funkhouser (7-3) walked three and struck out eight. The Cardinals (19-8, 42-10) scored two in the first and four in the second. Drew Ellis homered and drove in two, while Brendan McKay knocked in a pair for UL. Evan Mendoza had two hits and one RBI for the Wolfpack (13-12, 32-17).
No. 3 Miami 8, Pittsburgh 4
In Coral Gables, Fla., Christopher Barr had two hits and three RBI as Miami completed an ACC sweep of Pitt and clinched its third straight Coastal Division title. The Hurricanes (19-6, 40-9) erased a 3-2 deficit with four in the fifth. Carl Chester had three hits and two runs, while Edgar Michelangeli went 2 for 3 with two runs for Miami. Alex Kowalczyk had two hits, including a double, and two RBI for the Panthers (10-16, 25-23).
No. 4 Mississippi State 10, Auburn 3
In Auburn, Ala., Nathaniel Lowe went 3 for 4 with a double, a homer, three runs and three RBI as MSU swept its SEC series at Auburn. Jack Kruger had three hits, a homer, two runs and two RBI for the Bulldogs (18-9, 37-14-1). Konnor Pilkington (3-1, 6 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 4 K) registered the victory. Kyler Deese drove in two for the Tigers (8-19, 22-30).
No. 5 Florida State 4, Duke 3
In Durham, N.C., Taylor Walls homered and scored twice as FSU won the ACC series finale at Duke. John Sansone had three doubles, one run and one RBI for the Seminoles (15-8, 33-17). Jimmy Herron had three hits, including two doubles, and one RBI for the Blue Devils (12-15, 31-21).
No. 10 TCU 7, Baylor 3
In Waco, Texas, TCU snapped a 2-2 tie with three in the seventh to salvage the Big 12 finale at Baylor. Austen Wade had two hits and two RBI, while Luken Baker homered, drove in two and scored twice for the Horned Frogs (12-9, 34-14). Matt Menard went deep for the Bears (8-13, 22-26).
