In DeKalb, Ill., NIU trailed 10-4 with a runner on first and two away in the bottom of the ninth before erupting for seven runs and an improbable victory. The Huskies (19-25) used a single, three straight walks, and consecutive RBI singles to cut the deficit to a pair at 10-8. Jason Gasser, who singled to start the ninth, tied the game with a two-run single. Johnny Zubek delivered the game-winning base hit to give NIU its seventh straight win, its longest win streak since taking 10 consecutive games in 1977. Shea Molitor and Scott Kapers homered for the Crusaders (20-21).
No. 1 Florida 7, Bethune-Cookman 1
In Gainesville, Fla., Buddy Reed had three hits and two runs, and Nelson Maldonado homered and drove in three as Florida topped Bethune-Cookman. J.J. Schwarz added a pair of hits, including a solo homer late, two runs and two RBI as the Gators (38-7) scored five times in the second inning. Michael Cruz hit a solo homer for the Wildcats (23-23).
No. 7 Vanderbilt 6, Western Kentucky 1
In Nashville, Julian Infante doubled, tripled and drove in three as Vanderbilt scored three in the third and three in the eighth to beat Western Kentucky. Matt McGarry tossed three innings with one earned run as he and four relievers combined to strike out 11 for the Commodores (35-10). Harrison Scanlon had two hits and an RBI, and Cody Coll yielded three earned runs in 6.2 innings for the Hilltoppers (24-21).
No. 8 Louisville 7, Cincinnati 1
In Louisville, Ky., Blake Tiberi had two hits and two RBI as Louisville topped UC. The Cardinals (36-9) scored in six of the first seven innings. Will Smith (2 for 4, HR) and Colby Fitch (2 for 2, 2B, 2 BB, RBI) both scored twice for UL. Kade McClure (9-0, 7 IP, 6 H, R, BB, 4 K) earned the victory. Vince Augustine went 1 for 3 with one RBI for the Bearcats (21-23-1).
No. 14 Virginia 7, Liberty 3
In Lynchburg, Va., Adam Haseley homered and drove in two, and Pavin Smith contributed two hits and two RBI as Virginia knocked off Liberty. Tyler Shambora tossed 4.1 innings of scoreless relief to improve to 5-0 for the Cavaliers (31-17). Jack Morris drove in a pair of runs for the Flames (22-23).
