In Long Beach, Calif., Dave Smith allowed one run in a career-best 8.0 innings as LBSU edged UH to sweep the series and win its first Big West championship since 2008. Smith (8-1) allowed six hits with no walks and two strikeouts. Chris Rivera worked a perfect ninth with one punchout to record his 10th save. Jarren Duran and Ramsey Romano both had two hits and a run for the Dirtbags (18-3, 35-16-1). Adam Fogel homered in the seventh for the Rainbows (8-13, 26-22).
SWAC Championship Game: W2 Texas Southern 4, E2 Alabama State 2 (13)
In New Orleans, Gerrek Jimenez delivered an RBI single in the top of the 13th to snap a 2-2 tie and propel Texas Southern to its second SWAC title in the past three seasons. Jimenez entered as a defensive replacement an inning earlier and took advantage of his only at-bat of the game. Blake Hicks went 1 for 4 with two walks, a run and an RBI for the Tigers (20-32). Michael Villanueva (8-4, 6 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 3 K) earned the win. Cage Cox (2 for 5) homered for the Hornets (31-25).
No. 1 Oregon State 14, Washington State 3
In Corvallis, Ore., Nick Madrigal homered and knocked in five as OSU completed the Pac-12 sweep of WSU and set a conference record with its 27th league victory. The Beavers (27-3, 45-4) added to its 3-0 lead with seven in the fifth. Michael Gretler had three hits and three RBI for OSU. Drew Rasmussen (2-0, 5.2 IP, 3 H, BB, 4 K) earned the victory. Cory Meyer went 2 for 2 with a run for the Cougars (10-17, 24-26).
No. 10 Stanford 6, Washington 5 (10)
In Stanford, Calif., Jesse Kuet delivered a run-scoring single in the bottom of the 10th as Stanford swept its Pac-12 series with UW. The Huskies (12-15, 26-25) built a 5-0 lead in the third before the Cardinal (18-9, 37-14) scored two in the fourth and three in the fifth. Dan Bakst (4 for 5, 3 2B) had an RBI double in the fourth and a two-run double in the fifth. Tyler Thorne (4-1, 5 IP, 2 H, BB, 5 K) recorded the win. Kyle London and Josh Cushing both had two hits, one run and one RBI for UW.
CSUN 8, No. 14 Cal State Fullerton 4
In Northridge, Calif., Alvaro Rubalcaba had two hits and two RBI as CSUN avoided the Big West sweep at the hands of Fullerton. The Matadors (12-12, 26-29) snapped a 1-1 tie with two in the fifth and Albee Weiss had a two-run homer to spark a five-run sixth. Timmy Richards went 3 for 5 with two doubles, two runs and one RBI for the Titans (14-7, 33-19).
