In Nashville, Tenn., Alonzo Jones went 2 for 4 with a double, a run and three RBI as Vanderbilt downed South Carolina to kick off their SEC series Thursday evening. The Commodores (5-2, 22-4) took early control with four runs in the first. Ethan Paul went 2 for 3 with a double and a homer for Vandy. Jordan Sheffield (4-1, 7 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 9 K) earned the victory, while Ben Bowden fanned three over the final two scoreless innings to notch his third save. Clarke Schmidt (6-1, 8 IP, 8 H, 6 R, 4 ER, BB, 9 K) went the distance for the Gamecocks (6-1, 23-4).
Arizona State 10, Washington State 1
In Pullman, Wash., Seth Martinez tossed a five-hitter in recording his first complete game as Arizona State took the Pac-12 series opener at Washington State. Martinez (4-2) allowed one unearned run, had no walks and struck out five. The Sun Devils (2-5, 15-9) led 3-0 before scoring two in the seventh and five in the ninth. Brian Serven drove in two, while Colby Woodmansee had three hits and David Greer scored three for ASU. Trek Stemp and Mason Cerrillo both had two hits for the Cougars (1-6, 8-15).
Missouri State 2, Central Michigan 0
In Springfield, Mo., Jordan Hovey had an RBI triple and scored in the eighth as MSU blanked CMU. Jordan Knutson (4 H, 4 BB) fanned 10 in 7.2 innings for the Bears (20-5). Sam Perez struck out the final batter of the eighth to pick up the win and raise his record to 5-0. Bryan Young pitched a perfect ninth for his eighth save. Zach McKinstry had two hits for the Chippewas (5-21).
Alabama 10, Georgia 7 (13 innings)
In Athens, Ga., Chance Vincent had an RBI triple in the top of the 13th and Taylor Roe added a two-run double later in the frame as Alabama outlasted Georgia. The game lasted 5:12, the second-longest game in the history of the Crimson Tide (5-2, 16-9). Alabama trailed 7-4 before scoring two in the seventh and one in the eighth. Vincent went 3 for 6 with three runs and two RBI, while Keith Holcombe (3 for 6) and Cody Henry (2 for 5) both scored twice for Alabama. Mitchell Webb went 3 for 6 with two doubles and four RBI for the Bulldogs (2-6, 15-12).
BYU 8, Portland 2
In Portland, Ore., Brennon Lund had three doubles and a homer as BYU downed Portland to kick off their WCC series. The Cougars (5-2, 21-3) built a 5-0 lead in the third. Colton Shaver had a double, a homer and five RBI for BYU. Michael Rucker (6-0, 5 H, R, 2 BB, 5 K) earned the victory. Caleb Whalen had a homer, two hits and two runs for the Pilots (1-3, 13-13).
Notre Dame 6, Oregon 3
In Notre Dame, Ind., Cavan Biggio had two hits and three RBI to lead Notre Dame past Oregon. Nick Podkul went 2 for 3 with a double, two runs and one RBI for the Irish (13-10). ND scored twice in the second and fourth in building a 4-1 lead. Jake Bennett had two hits, including a double, and two RBI for the Ducks (11-10).
