In Arlington, Texas, TCU scored 14 runs over the final five innings in downing Arkansas. Austin Davis went 3 for 6 with a double, a homer, two runs and three RBI to park the offense for the Horned Frogs (2-0). Kole Klecker (4.1 IP, 3 H, R, 6 K) earned the win in relief. Jared Wegner was a triple short of the cycle, going 3 for 4 with three RBI for the Hogs (1-1).
Grand Canyon 4, No. 2 Tennessee 3
In Phoenix, Ariz., Eli Paton scored on an error in the bottom of the seventh to snap a 3-3 tie as GCU edged UT. Paton doubled and scored twice, while Jacob Wilson went 2 for 4 with a triple, one run and one RBI for the Lopes (2-0). Daniel Avitia worked the final three innings with two hits and a walk to record the victory. Cal Stark had a two-run homer in the fourth for the Vols (0-2). Chase Burns fanned six in 4.2 innings with three hits, one walk and two runs for UT.
No. 3 Stanford 7, Cal State Fullerton 5
In Fullerton, Calif., shortstop Owen Cobb had a diving catch with the bases loaded and two away in the bottom of the ninth to preserve a victory for the Cardinal over the Titans. Tommy Troy (2 for 4, HR, 2 RBI) delivered an RBI single in the top of the eighth to snap a 5-5 tie and give Stanford (1-1) the lead. Eddie Park (2 for 5, R, RBI) added an insurance run in the top of the ninth. Braden Montgomery had three hits, including a homer, and three runs for the victors. Zach Lew had two hits, a double and two runs for CSF (1-1).
No. 1 LSU 5, Western Michigan 3
In Baton Rouge, La., Riley Cooper tossed 5.1 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts as the Tigers edged the Broncos. Cooper (1-0) did not allow a hit and walked two. Nate Ackenhausen (H, R, BB, 2 K) pitched the final 3.1 innings to record his first save. Gavin Dugas had two hits, including a homer, for the Tigers (2-0). Cade Sullivan homered and knocked in two for WMU (0-2).
No. 4 Florida 16, Charleston Southern 2
In Gainesville, Fla., Ty Evans went 2 for 3 with a double and four RBI to lead the UF past CSU. Josh Rivera, Wyatt Langford and Cade Kurland all scored three times for the Gators (2-0). Bryce Brock went 1 for 1 with a walk, a run and one RBI for the Bucs (0-2).
No. 5 Texas A&M 6, Seattle 3
In College Station, Texas, Austin Bost and Jace Laviolette both had two-run homers in a five-run fourth as TAMU defeated SU. Laviolette added a solo shot in the eighth for the Aggies (2-0). Hudson Shupe had three hits for the Redhawks (0-2).
