In Eugene, Ore., Mitchell Verburg got a strikeout with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth as Oregon State edged Oregon to win the Pac-12 championship and give coach Pat Casey his 1,000th career win. Steven Kwan had a key two-run double in a three-run fifth and finished with three RBI for the Beavers (23-3, 40-4). Max Engelbrekt (3-0) allowed one hit in 3.2 scoreless innings, and Verburg earned his second save. Tim Susnara went 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI for the Ducks (9-14, 26-20). David Peterson allowed four hits and five runs (four earned) in four innings to fall to 10-3.
No. 2 Louisville 4, No. 8 Clemson 2
In Clemson, S.C., Drew Ellis had three hits, and Colby Fitch homered and scored twice as Louisville slipped past Clemson in the ACC. Brendan McKay (8-3) battled his way through five scoreless innings with five hits, three walks and seven strikeouts, and Lincoln Henzman closed with two scoreless innings for his 15th save for the Cardinals (21-4, 44-6). Charlie Barnes (5-4) threw well for the Tigers (16-9, 37-13) but was hurt by three unearned runs. Andrew Cox went 4 for 5 with a run, and Chase Pinder contributed three hits and an RBI for Clemson.
No. 5 TCU 9, Oklahoma 6
In Norman, Okla., Evan Skoug had two hits, three runs and two RBI, and Ryan Merrill added two hits, three runs and an RBI as TCU scored six times in the final two innings to overtake Oklahoma and capture a share of the Big 12 regular season title. TCU took advantage of five walks and produced several key hits over the final two frames before Durbin Feltman worked out of a jam himself in posting his 12th save for the Horned Frogs (16-6, 36-11). Steele Walker had three hits and two runs for the Sooners (10-9, 32-18).
No. 6 Florida 2, Alabama 1
In Gainesville, Fla., Nelson Maldonado delivered a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning as Florida edged Alabama in the SEC. The Gators (17-8, 36-14) won despite being limited to three hits as Jake Walters allowed two hits and struck out eight. One of the hits, though, was JJ Schwarz’s eighth homer of the season and tied the game at 1 in the seventh. Alex Faedo was just as good, allowing three hits and striking out eight for Florida. Cobie Vance had an RBI double to give the Crimson Tide (5-20, 19-30) a 1-0 lead in the fourth.
No. 7 Mississippi State 9, Georgia 3
In Athens, Ga., Brent Rooker blasted his 20th homer, a three-run shot, and Elijah MacNamee added a two-run shot as Mississippi beat Georgia in the SEC. Rooker scored three times, and Cody Brown added two hits, two runs and two RBI for the Bulldogs (17-8, 33-17). Konnor Pilkington (6-4) tossed eight scoreless innings with four hits, four walks and seventh strikeouts. Tucker Bradley led Georgia (7-18, 20-30) with two hits and two RBI.
No. 9 Kentucky 15, Tennessee 5
In Lexington, Ky., Evan White went 2 for 4 with a homer, two runs and three RBI, and Riley Mahan and Troy Squires each had a homer among their three hits, three runs and two RBI as Kentucky rolled past Tennessee. Sean Hjelle allowed two hits and one earned run and struck out six in seven innings for the Wildcats. Andre Lipcius had two hits and two RBI for the Volunteers.
No. 12 LSU 5, No. 14 Auburn 3
In Baton Rouge, La., Zach Watson went 3 for 3 with a homer and two RBI, and Michael Papierski added a homer, two runs and two RBI as LSU beat Auburn for the second straight day. Zack Hess tossed 1.1 innings of relief to improve to 6-1, and Hunter Newman posted his eighth save for the Tigers (17-9, 34-17). Jonah Todd went 4 for 5 with a run and an RBI for Auburn (14-12, 32-20).
No. 19 St. John’s 7-4, Xavier 3-3
In Queens, N.Y., freshman Sean Mooney improved to 7-0, thanks in large part to Anthony Brocato, who hit two homers and drove in five as St. John’s won the first game of its Big East doubleheader with Xavier. In the second game, Michael Donadio had three hits and an RBI as the Red Storm (10-4, 36-8) completed the sweep. Josh Shaw contributed two hits and two runs for St. John’s, which scored two runs in the eighth. In Game 1, Mooney tossed 8.1 innings with six hits, two earned runs and 10 strikeouts. John Valente went 2 for 4 with a homer and two RBI. Will Larue hit a two-run homer for Xavier (7-5, 25-24). Larue added two hits and an RBI, and Ryan Bannon chipped in with two hits, a run and an RBI for the Musketeers.
