In Tucson, Ariz., Cody Deason twirled a five-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts as Arizona took the Pac-12 series opener from UCLA. It was the first career shutout for Deason (5-4), who walked just one. Donta Williams had two hits and Nick Quintana went deep for the Wildcats (8-11, 26-17). Jeremy Ydens and Chast Strumpf both went 2 for 4 for the Bruins (14-5, 30-11).
No. 19 Georgia 10, Missouri 6
In Columbia, Mo., Adam Sasser belted three home runs, including a grand slam to break a 4-4 tie in the fifth, as UGA outscored Mizzou to kick off their SEC series. Sasser had solo shots in the second and seventh for the Bulldogs (13-9, 31-14). Michael Curry had two hits and two RBI for UGA. Brian Sharp (2 for 5, 2 R, 2 RBI) and Zach Hanna (2 for 4) both went deep for the Tigers (9-13 30-16).
Monmouth 2, Princeton 1 (10)
In West Long Branch, N.J, JD Andreessen was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th as Monmouth edged Princeton. John LaRocca went 1 for 2 with a walk and a run for the Hawks (20-21). Ryan Tillie (2-0, 3 IP, H, 3 K) earned the victory. Brendan Galvin had two hits for the Tigers (10-24).
Saint Mary’s 2, BYU 1
In Moraga, Calif., Jackson Thoreson homered in the eighth to tie the game and Ryan Novis had a pinch-hit RBI single in the bottom of the ninth as SMC nipped BYU to begin their WCC series. Thoreson had two hits and a walk for the Gaels (11-8, 27-18). Ty Madrigal (2-1, 2 IP, 3 K) earned the win in relief of Kevin Milam (7 IP, 4 H, 1 UE, 2 BB, 12 K). Daviel Schneemann went 2 for 4 for the Cougars (8-11, 19-21).
