In Gainesville, Fla., Wil Dalton had a three-run homer to cap a six-run third as UF thumped UK to kick off their SEC series. Dalton tops the conference with 14 dingers. Deacon Liput (2 for 6, 2 2B, 3 RBI) had a two-run double to spark the six-run outburst in the third for the Gators (13-3, 33-7). Brady Smith (3 for 4, 2 R, 2 RBI) also went deep for UF. Brady Singer (pictured above) struck out 10 in seven innings in earning the victory. Singer (8-1) gave up three hits, two runs and one walk. Luke Becker went 2 for 3 with a double, a run and one RBI for the Wildcats (7-9, 25-13).
No. 6 Oregon State 5, Oregon 2
In Corvallis, Ore., Luke Heimlich struck out 12 and became OSU’s career leader in strikeouts in the Pac-12 series opener over Oregon. Heimlich (9-1) allowed four hits, one walk and one earned run. He has 305 career strikeouts in 76 outings. Jake Mulholland worked a hitless ninth with two strikeouts to notch his 10th save. Trevor Larnach and Tyler Malone both homered for the Beavers (8-5, 27-6), who scored in four of the first five innings. Kyle Kasser went 2 for 4 with one RBI for the Ducks (6-10, 19-16).
Missouri 2, No. 9 Vanderbilt 1
In Columbia, Mo., TJ Sikkema fanned 10 in six innings as Mizzou nipped VU to open their SEC series. Sikkema (3-3) allowed seven hits, two walks and one run. Andy Toelken tossed three perfect innings with four punchouts to earn his third save. Trey Harris and Matt Berler both went 1 for 3 with one RBI for the Tigers (7-9, 26-12). Austin Martin was 2 for 4 and drove in a run for the Commodores (9-7, 23-15).
