In Coral Gables, Fla., Willie Abreu had two homers and seven RBI, including a game-winning grand slam in the bottom of the ninth, as Miami rallied past Louisville to kick off their ACC series. Carl Chester had an RBI single in the eighth for the Hurricanes (3-1, 15-3) to knot the score at 4-4. Bryan Garcia (1-0) fanned two in a hitless ninth to earn the victory. Blake Tiberi went 2 for 3 with a homer and two runs for the Cardinals (3-1, 15-3). Kyle Funkhouser (5.0 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 4 K) walked five in the start, while Zack Burdi (1-1, 1.0 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 2 K) took the loss for UL.

No. 14 Mississippi State 2, No. 2 Vanderbilt 1 (13 innings)

In Nashville, Tenn., Cole Gordon delivered a bloop single to score Luke Alexander as Mississippi State edged Vanderbilt in a game that featured premium pitching to open SEC play. Three pitchers in the game threw at least six innings and allowed one run or less. Dakota Hudson started for the Bulldogs (1-0, 13-5-2) and allowed four hits and one unearned run with eight strikeouts in nine innings. Jordan Sheffield also yielded one unearned run, tossing six innings with five hits, five walks and nine strikeouts for the Commodores (0-1, 16-2). Matt Ruppenthal took the loss despite throwing seven innings with three hits, one earned run and seven strikeouts. Alexander’s blooper to right-center in the 13th inning bounced off the second-base umpire and went for a double to set up Gordon. Vandy loaded the bases after Cody Brown threw out a runner at third with two outs, Ryan Rigby, who tossed 2.1 innings for the win, got a strikeout to end the inning.

No. 18 South Carolina 10, No. 15 Arkansas 6

In Columbia, S.C., D.C. Arendas doubled, homered and drove in three, and Alex Destino went 3 for 4 with two runs and two RBI as South Carolina scored eight runs in the first two innings in an SEC win over Arkansas. Clarke Schmidt (5-0) yielded nine hits and four earned runs, but struck out 11 in seven innings for the Gamecocks (1-0, 18-2). Dominic Taccolini (3-1) allowed eight earned runs in the first two innings but settled in and threw four shutout innings after the rough start. Carson Shaddy had three hits and three RBI, and Luke Bonfield homered and drove in two as the Razorbacks (0-1, 15-4) made a game of it late with four runs in the eighth.

No. 1 Florida 4, Missouri 3 (10 innings)

In Gainesville, Fla., Peter Alonso’s 10th-innning single scored Nick Horvath with the game-winning run as Florida opened SEC play with a win over Missouri. Horvath walked to open the inning and moved up on a grounder. The Tigers walked Buddy Reed and JJ Schwarz to load the bases before Horvath grounded a ball through the left side. Shaun Anderson (3-0) earned the win by striking out the side in the 10th for the Gators (1-0, 19-1). Mike Rivera paced the Gators’ offense with two hits and two runs, which was limited by Reggie McClain, who tossed nine innings with nine hits, three runs (two earned) and eight strikeouts. Zach Levy went 3 for 5 with a triple, run and RBI as Missouri (0-1, 14-7) scored three runs in the first.

No. 5 Oregon State 3, Arizona State 2

In Corvallis, Ore., KJ Harrison had a two-run homer in the fourth inning, and Drew Rasmussen pitched into the ninth as Oregon State edged Arizona State to open Pac-12 play. Rasmussen (4-0) allowed five hits and two runs with eight strikeouts in 8.1 innings, with Max Engelbrekt coming on for his seventh save for the Beavers (1-0, 13-2). Colby Woodmansee went 2 for 4 with a solo homer in the ninth and two runs for the Sun Devils (0-1, 13-4).

No 7 TCU 10, West Virginia 6

In Fort Worth, Texas, Elliott Barzilli had a two-run homer and Luken Baker added a two-run single in a seven-run eighth as TCU topped West Virginia to start Big 12 play. Cam Warner had a double and drove in three for the Horned Frogs (1-0, 14-3). Shaun Corso and Kyle Gray both drove in two for the Mountaineers (0-1, 10-5).

No. 9 North Carolina 11, Duke 2

In Durham, N.C., Zack Gahagan had three hits and four RBI to lead UNC over Duke in the ACC series opener. The Tar Heels (3-1, 15-2) broke a 2-2 deadlock with five in the sixth. Eli Sutherland went 2 for 3 with two walks and three runs for UNC. Zac Gallen (3-0, 7 IP, 4 H, 2 R, BB) struck out 10 in recording the victory. Cris Perez had two hits and one RBI for the Blue Devils (1-3, 10-8).

Tennessee 3, No. 10 Ole Miss 2

In Knoxville, Tenn., Derek Lance had a game-winning RBI single with two away in the bottom of the ninth as Tennessee topped Ole Miss to begin SEC play. Max Bartlett doubled with two down in the ninth before Lance sent a single to center field to bring home Bartlett with the game-winner. Jon Lipinski (1-0, 2.2 IP, 3 H, R, BB, 3 K) earned the victory for the Volunteers (1-0, 12-5) in relief of Zach Warren (6.1 IP, 4 H, R, 3 BB, 8 K). J.B. Woodman (2 for 3, 2 R) homered for the Rebels (0-1, 17-2).

No. 11 Florida State 17, Pittsburgh 4

In Pittsburgh, John Sansone went 2 for 5 with a double and career-best five RBI as FSU took the ACC series opener at Pitt. The Seminoles (4-0, 14-4) scored multiple runs in five different innings, including four in the first and sixth as well as five in the seventh. Taylor Walls went 2 for 3 with three walks and four runs for FSU. Aaron Schnurbusch had a three-run homer in the fourth for the Panthers (1-3, 8-7).

USC 18, No. 12 California 5

In Los Angeles, Adalberto Carrillo went 4 for 4 with a homer and four RBI as USC evened its Pac-12 series with Cal. The Trojans (1-1, 8-9) scored three in the first to tie the game and took control with seven in the second. Jeremy Martinez (4 for 5, 2B, 2 R), AJ Ramirez (3 for 5, 2B, 4 R) and Corey Dempster (2 for 3) each drove in three for USC. Brett Cumberland (1 for 2, 3 RBI) and Brenden Farney (3 for 5, 2 R, 2 RBI) both went deep for the Golden Bears (1-1, 11-5).

No. 16 NC State 9, Notre Dame 1

In Raleigh, N.C., Joe O’Donnell tossed a complete game with four hits and one earned run as NC State coasted past Notre Dame. O’Donnell (3-1) took a shutout into the ninth inning before allowing a homer to pinch-hitter James Nevant. Josh McLain homered, scored twice and drove in two, and Chance Shepard had two hits and two RBI for the Wolfpack (2-2, 15-5), which scored five runs in the seventh. Notre Dame fell to 0-4, 7-9.

Utah 4, No. 18 Oregon 1

In Eugene, Ore., Jayson Rose fanned nine over 6.2 innings as Utah took the Pac-12 opener at Oregon. Rose (2-2) allowed three hits, four walks and one run. Dylan Drachler worked the final 2.1 innings with no hits, two walks and four punchouts to record his second save. The Utes (1-0, 5-11) scored single runs in each of the final three innings. Dallas Carroll went 1 for 3 with a triple, a run and one RBI for the victors. A.J. Balta had a sacrifice fly in the third to drive in the lone run for the Ducks (0-1, 8-6).

No. 19 Clemson 6, Boston College 2

In Clemson, S.C., Clate Schmidt struck out 11 batters in seven strong innings, and Seth Beer and Weston Wilson hit two-run homers as Clemson knocked off Boston College. Schmidt (4-0) allowed two runs on six hits in another strong start. Beer hit a two-run homer to break a 2-2 tie in the third inning and extend his hitting streak to 15 games. Wilson ripped a two-run homer in the fifth for the Tigers (3-1, 14-3). Stephen Sauter and Gabriel Hernandez each hit solo homers for the Eagles (2-2, 12-4).

Rain wiped out No. 3 Texas A&M at Auburn as well as Alabama at No. 7 LSU.
