Chapel Hill Super Regional – won by #6 North Carolina
#6 North Carolina 7, #11 Stetson 5
Cody Roberts had an RBI double and scored to spark a four-run first as UNC swept Stetson to advance to the College World Series. Brandon Riley and Ashton McGee (2 for 4, 2 RBI) also had run-scoring doubles in the first for the Tar Heels (43-18). Ike Freeman went 3 for 5 with one RBI for UNC. Caden O’Brien (2 IP, BB, K) earned the win in relief. Andrew MacNeil (3 for 5, 2 R) and Jonathan Meola (2 for 4) both homered for the Hatters (48-13).
Corvallis Super Regional – won by #3 Oregon State
#3 Oregon State 6, #14 Minnesota 3
Adley Rutschman delivered a two-run single with two away in the top of the ninth to break a 3-3 tie as OSU downed Minnesota to earn a trip to the College World Series. Steven Kwan had a one-out single in the ninth. He moved to second on a base hit by Cadyn Grenier and went to third on a walk to Nick Madrigal. With two away, Rutschman knocked in two with a single to give the Beavers a 5-3 edge. Kyle Nobach was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to make it 6-3. Trevor Larnach had an RBI single in the top of the first as the Beavers took the early lead. Ben Mezzenga delivered a run-scoring single in the bottom of the third for the Gophers to even the score at 1-1. Jordan Kozicky walked with the bases loaded in the fourth as Minnesota took a 2-1 edge. Kwan drove in a run in the top of the fifth as OSU knotted the score at 2-2. Micah Coffey’s RBI single with two away in the bottom of the fifth put the Gophers back on top at 3-2. The Beavers tied it in the eighth on a run-scoring single by Nobach. Christian Chamberlain (2 IP, H, 5 K) earned the win in relief, while Jake Mulholland allowed one hit and fanned three in the ninth to record the save.
Austin Super Regional
Tennessee Tech 5, #13 Texas 4 (TTU leads series 1-0)
Ethan Roberts allowed one run over the final four frames as TTU won Game 1 of its Super Regional at UT. Roberts entered in the bottom of the sixth with runners on first and second with no outs with the Golden Eagles (53-10) nursing a 5-3 lead. Roberts struck out the side in the sixth to keep TTU on top. Roberts allowed one hit and one run with three walks and four strikeouts to secure the win for Marcus Evey (5 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 4 K). Brennon Kaleiwahea (2 for 4) had a two-run double in the third to give TTU a 2-1 advantage. Chase Chambers drove in a pair with a two-bagger in the fifth as the Eagles took the lead for good. Jake McKenzie had three hits and two runs, while Kody Clemens homered in the fifth for the Longhorns (40-21).
Fayetteville Super Regional
#5 Arkansas 9, South Carolina 3 (Arkansas leads series 1-0)
Carson Shaddy had a bases-clearing double in a four-run seventh as Arkansas took the series opener from USC. Shaddy had a sacrifice fly to cap a two-run fourth as the Razorbacks (43-18) took a 3-2 lead. Madison Stokes had a leadoff homer in the top of the sixth as the Gamecocks (36-25) tied it at 3-3. Shaddy drew a leadoff walk and scored on a base hit by Jax Biggers (3 for 4) in the bottom of the frame as Arkansas took the lead for good at 4-3. Shaddy had a three-run double in the seventh and scored on a sacrifice fly by Jared Gates to make it 8-3. Luke Bonfield added an RBI single in the eighth to make the final 9-3. Casey Martin and Heston Kjerstad both had two hits and two runs for the victors. LT Tolbert went 2 for 4 with a homer for USC.
Fullerton Super Regional
Cal State Fullerton 5, Washington 2 (series tied 1-1)
Tommy Wilson allowed three hits and a run in seven innings as Fullerton evened its series with UW. Wilson walked one and fanned three. Brett Conine (2 IP, 3 H, R, K) worked the final two innings to secure the victory. The Titans (36-24) scored twice in the top of the second. Sahid Valenzuela had a leadoff triple and came home on a double by Chris Prescott, who scored on a double play to give Fullerton a 2-0 edge. Joe Wainhouse homered in the fourth as the Huskies (34-24) cut the deficit in half. The Titans added to their lead in the fifth. Daniel Cope (2 for 4, 2 R) doubled and scored on a triple by Jairus Richards, who came home on a single by Brett Borgogno (2 for 4) to make it 4-1. Hank LoForte had an RBI triple in the seventh to give Fullerton a 5-1 lead. Wainhouse went deep again in the bottom of the ninth for UW.
Gainesville Super Regional
#1 Florida 8, Auburn 2 (UF leads series 1-0)
Wil Dalton had a two-run single to ignite a four-run third as UF took the series opener from Auburn. Austin Langworthy and Keenan Bell also drove in runs in the third for the Gators (46-18). Deacon Liput (3 for 5, 2 R) and Nelson Maldonado (2 for 5, 2 R) both homered for UF. Brady Singer (6.2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 9 K) recorded the victory. Josh Anthony went 2 for 3 with a double and one RBI for the Tigers (42-22). Casey Mize (5 IP, 7 H, 6 R, 4 BB, 5 K) took the loss. He was the No. 1 overall pick in this past week’s MLB Draft.
Lubbock Super Regional
#9 Texas Tech 6, Duke 4 (TTU leads series 1-0)
TTU scored in each of its final four at-bats, including two in the bottom of the eighth to snap a 4-4 tie, in beating Duke to kick off their Super Regional series. Cody Farhat had a one-out single in the eighth for the Red Raiders (43-17) and scored on a base hit by Gabe Holt (3 for 5, 2 R, 2 RBI) to give the home team a 5-4 lead. Brian Klein (2 for 4) followed with an RBI double to put the Red Raiders up 6-4. Zach Rheams (2 for 4) homered for TTU. Zack Kone had three hits and three RBI for the Blue Devils (44-17).
Nashville Super Regional
Vanderbilt 4, Mississippi State 3 (series tied 1-1)
JJ Bleday belted a homer to center with one away in the bottom of the ninth as Vandy evened its series with MSU. Jake Mangum (2 for 5) had a two-run single in the top of the second to give the Bulldogs (36-27) the early advantage. Austin Martin (2 for 4) doubled and scored on a base hit by Stephen Scott (2 for 4) as the Commodores (35-26) made it a one-run contest. A Jordan Westburg RBI double in the fourth extended the MSU lead to 3-1. Ty Duvall had a pinch-hit RBI single in the bottom of the sixth as VU pulled within one at 3-2. Harrison Ray tripled and scored on a base hit by Ethan Paul in the eighth as the Commodores tied it at 3-3. Luke Alexander went 3 for 4 with two runs for the Bulldogs.
