sweeps
Despite lost weekend, A&M wins title;
No. 3 ASU sweeps Washington
In
Columbia, Mo., Greg Folgia went 3 for 5 with three RBI and two
runs as No. 13 Missouri completed its first sweep of No. 6
Nebraska since 1996, capping the weekend with a 7-3 win Sunday.
Ryan Lollis added two RBI, and Rick Zagone (pictured) picked up
the win on a staff day for the Tigers (16-11, 37-17). Missouri
will be the No. 4 seed in the upcoming Big 12 tourney. Jake
Opitz went 3 for 4 for Nebraska (17-9-1, 39-12-1), the No. 3
seed.
Texas 6, No. 7 Texas A&M 3
In College Station, Texas, Travis Tucker drove in
the go-ahead run in the eighth inning, and Russell Moldenhauer
drilled a two-run homer in the ninth as Texas rallied late to
cap a sweep of Texas A&M. Despite the lost weekend, the Aggies
captured the Big 12 regular-season title when Oklahoma upended
Oklahoma State. Moldenhauer finished with three hits, and Kyle
Russell contributed two RBI for the Longhorns (15-12, 34-19).
Kyle Colligan had two hits, two runs and two RBI for the Aggies
(19-8, 42-14).
No. 3 Arizona State 13, Washington 7
In Tempe, Ariz., Brett Wallace hit his 19th homer - a late grand
slam – and Raoul Torrez added three RBI as Arizona State
completed a Pac-10 sweep of Washington. Ryan Sontag went 3 for 4
with two RBI and a run as the Sun Devils (15-6, 44-9) won their
seventh straight game. Kyle Conley went 2 for 3 with a homer,
two runs and two RBI for the Huskies (10-11, 31-20).
Oklahoma 10, No. 9 Oklahoma State 4
In Oklahoma City, Bryant Hernandez had three hits
and two RBI, and Aljay Davis and Matt Harughty added two RBI
apiece as Oklahoma (9-17-1, 31-23-1) avoided a sweep against
Oklahoma State (18-9, 40-15) and earned a spot in the Big 12
tourney in the process.
No. 12 UC Irvine 5, UC Davis 3
In Davis, Calif., Sean Madigan had a two-run single in a
three-run first inning, and UC Irvine slipped past UC Davis in
the Big West. Daniel Bibona tossed 6.2 innings to post his
seventh win for the Anteaters (12-9, 36-16). Ryan Scoma had
three hits and two RBI for the Aggies (11-10, 32-21).
