Mike Martin's 1900th win came against Virginia Commonwealth Univertsity (VCU) in Tallahassee on February 19, 2017. FSU won the game 11-3.

Florida State head coach Mike Martin will coach his 40th and final season in 2018.

Martin became the winningest coach in college baseball history this past May and is 13 wins away from 2,000. Since 1980, Martin has amassed a record of 1,987-713-4. His winning percentage of .736 leads all active coaches. Martin has led the Seminoles to the NCAA Tournament and to at least 40 victories in each of his 39 seasons in Tallahassee.

“I’ve said this so many times but it is true,” Martin said in a statement, “I am just so thankful to work for a school like FSU and an athletics administration that has given me every opportunity to be successful.

“I’m glad that they want me to continue coaching next season and I thank all our former and current coaches, staff and most importantly our players for the consistent success of our baseball program. You don’t win at our level without student-athletes who dedicate themselves to playing as a team and playing for something more than themselves.”

FSU went 43-19 this past season. The Seminoles were the No. 7 national seed and went 0-2 in the Tallahassee Regional, falling to Samford and Mississippi State.
