Dylan DeLucia struck out 10 in 7.2 innings as Ole Miss downed Auburn.
“We played very well,” Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco said. “It always starts on the mound. And I thought Dylan was terrific, as he’s been not just down the stretch, but probably since we’ve injected him into the rotation. He was terrific. And I thought tonight, against what we consider a really good Auburn offense, I thought he just mixed his pitches so well, fastballs in and out, a ton of sliders for strikes and then able to move the slider to get some punch-outs. He was able to elevate his fastball. He was able to do just about anything tonight. And you could tell they had a tough time figuring him out. But a lot of people do.”
DeLucia (7-2) allowed four hits and one run. He did not walk a batter.
With two away in the top of the first, Tim Elko singled and moved to third on a double by Kevin Graham (3 for 5). Kemp Alderman (2 for 4) singled to plate both runners as the Rebels (38-22) took a quick 2-0 lead.
Graham homered with two outs in the third as Ole Miss went up 3-0.
TJ McCants had an RBI single to cap a two-run fifth as the Rebels took a 5-0 advantage.
Bobby Peirce delivered a run-scoring single in the seventh as the Tigers (42-21) got on the board.
Ole Miss remains the only team unbeaten in NCAA Tournament play in 2022.
