Stuart Fairchild had a two-run homer, and Will Craig kept Duke scoreless over the final 2.1 innings as Wake Forest earned its way into pool play of the ACC Tournament. The Blue Devils (33-22) await their at-large fate from the NCAA selection committee. Parker Dunshee (9-4) allowed three earned runs and struck out 10 over 6.2 innings for the Demon Deacons (33-23), who move on to play Louisville. Peter Zyla went 3 for 5 with a run for Duke, which closed to 4-3 with two runs in the seventh but could get no closer.

 

Brandon Gold tossed 6.2 shutout innings, and Tristin English and Matt Gonzalez homered as Georgia Tech topped Boston College to advance to pool play. English went 3 for 5 with two runs and two RBI, and Gonzalez finished 2 for 4 for the Yellow Jackets (36-20). Johnny Adams, Joe Palomaki and Logan Hoggarth each had two hits for the Eagles (31-20), who will wait for Selection Monday to see if they will reach the NCAA tourney.

American (Clearwater, Fla.)

Trey Cumbie fanned nine in 7.0 innings as Houston defeated UC.. Cumbie (5-2) allowed five hits and one run with one walk. Nick Hernandez (1.2 IP, 2 BB, 5 K) recorded his ninth save. Connor Hollis doubled and drove in three, while Zac Taylor homered and knocked in three for the Cougars (34-22). Ryan Noda went deep for the Bearcats (26-29-1).

Tulane trailed 3-0 before a ground-rule double by Jeremy Montalbano in the bottom of the seventh gave the top seed the lead in a win over UCF. Grant Witherspoon went 1 for 4 with a run and an RBI for the Green Wave (38-17). Corey Merrill (3-1, 2.1 IP, 2 H, 3 K) earned the victory. Sam Tolleson drove in a pair for the Knights (25-32).

Big South (Lexington, S.C.)

Jack DeGroat allowed one hit over seven scoreless innings as Liberty downed High Point. DeGroat (4-3) walked three and fanned nine. The Flames (29-27) scored two in the third and four in the eighth. Sammy Taormina doubled and drove in two for LU. Dominic Fazio went 1 for 2 with two walks and a run for the Panthers (31-23).

Sammy Miller went 3 for 3 with two RBI as Longwood defeated Winthrop. Alex Lewis (2 for 4) went deep for the Lancers (31-25).  Tyler Asbill had two hits and two RBI, while Roger Gonzalez homered for the Eagles (28-26).

Connor Owings singled in the go-ahead run and a second run scored on an error on the play as Coastal Carolina outlasted Radford. The Highlanders (17-38) trailed 5-2 before scoring three times in the top of the eighth, two coming on Colby Higgerson’s single two-out single to left. Zach Remillard drove in two, and Michael Paez had two hits and two runs for the Chanticleers (41-15), who face the winner of Gardner-Webb/Presbyterian Wednesday night. The Highlanders face the loser of GW/Presbyterian.

MEAC (Salisbury, Md.)

Bethune-Cookman 1, Norfolk State 0 (NSU eliminated)

Tyler Norris and Alex Seibold combined on a one-hitter, and Jameel Edney hit a solo homer in the bottom of the eighth as Bethune-Cookman earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament by edging Norfolk State to win the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championship. Matt Outman (7-4) was brilliant for the Spartans (29-21), escaping a bases-loaded jam in the sixth and finishing with seven hits in a complete game. Norris and Seibold (6-4) combined to strike out nine for the Wildcats (29-25), who went unbeaten in tourney play and are back in the NCAA field after missing the tourney in 2015.

SEC (Hoover, Ala.)

In Hoover, Ala., Nick Eicholtz allowed three hits and two earned runs in 6.2 innings, and Will Haynie went 3 for 5 with a homer, two runs and two RBI as Alabama beat Kentucky to earn a spot in the double-elimination portion of the SEC Tournament. Hunter Webb (3 for 4) had a two-run single to spark a three-run second inning for the Crimson Tide (32-24). Riley Mahan had two hits and an RBI for the Wildcats (32-25).

J.B. Woodman had two hits, including a homer, and three RBI as Ole Miss ended Georgia’s season. After Woodman tripled to plate two runs in the third, Colby Bortles added a two-run double as the Rebels (41-16) moved on to meet South Carolina. Stephen Wrenn had a solo homer for the Bulldogs (27-30) in the first inning.

Patrick Raby yielded two hits in six scoreless innings, and Vanderbilt finally got to Missouri ace Tanner Houck for four runs in the sixth inning as the Commodores moved on in the SEC Tournament. Bryan Reynolds had a two-run double before Mizzou made two errors that led to two more runs for Vandy (42-15). Julian Infante later added a two-run homer. Ryan Howard had two of the four hits for the Tigers (26-30).

Southern (Greenville, S.C.)

#8 The Citadel 3, #9 VMI 2 (10 innings)

The Citadel scored single runs in the ninth and 10th to rally past VMI. Bret Hines had an RBI triple in the bottom of the 10th to complete the comeback. Pinch-hitter Jacob Watcher had a sacrifice bunt in the ninth for the Bulldogs to force the extra frame. Mike Deese had three hits and a run, while Stephen Windham went deep for The Citadel. Kyle Smith (2-2, 3 IP, H, BB, 5 K) earned the win in relief of JP Sears (7 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 4 BB, 10 K). Nathan Eaton had a two-run homer in the third for VMI.
