Spencer Brickhouse went 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI as East Carolina (41-15) exploded for five runs in the eighth inning to knock off Tulane (25-32) to reach the semifinals of the American Athletic Conference Tournament. Grant Witherspoon went 2 for 4 with two homers and four RBI for the Green Wave, whose Kaleb Roper was cruising until running into trouble in the eighth.

Connecticut (34-18-1) reached the semifinals for the fourth straight year, getting three hits and two RBI from Troy Stefanski and two hits and three runs from leadoff man John Toppa in coming back from an early 4-1 deficit to beat Wichita State (35-20-1). Alec Bohm went 3 for 4 with his 16th homer for the Shockers.

Elsewhere, Houston (34-22) avoided elimination as Joe Davis went 2 for 3 with a homer for the second straight day and two runs in a win over UCF (35-21). Alex Bohm had two hits and two RBI as Wichita State slipped past USF in an early game that the Shockers’ Keylan Killgore tossed six innings of relief with one unearned run and seven strikeouts. The Bulls (33-19-1) later got three hits, including a homer, two runs and three RBI from Joe Genord and three hits, three runs and two RBI from David Villar in eliminating Cincinnati (28-28).
