UNLV
is the CBI Louisville Slugger Team of the Week
UNLV went 3-0 against New Mexico and has been named the
CollegeBaseballInsider.com Louisville Slugger Team of the Week for games played
April 21-27.
The Rebels had the offense going as they won three at home
against the Lobos: 11-2 on Friday, 14-6 on Saturday and 14-2 on Sunday. UNLV
took over first place in the Mountain West with the series sweep.
Regional Teams of the Week
Northeast: Canisius had a 6-0 week
with five wins on the road. The Golden Griffins swept a doubleheader at Buffalo,
edges Youngstown State at home and swept a three-game MAAC series at Marist to
sit in second place, one game behind Siena.
Southeast: Miami (Fla.) went 5-0,
including four ACC wins. The Hurricanes defeated Notre Dame on Monday to secure
a series win. Miami won at Florida Atlantic before sweeping a three-game set at
Clemson to take sole possession of first place in the Coastal Division.
Central: West Virginia put together
a 5-0 week at home. The Mountaineers thumped Maryland and Marshall before
sweeping a three-game Big 12 series from Kansas State.
West: USC had a 4-0 week, defeating
Hawaii before sweeping a three-game Pac-12 set at UCLA to move into a tie for
third.
Honorable Mention
Fresno State had a 5-0 week, with
wins over California and Cal State Fullerton before sweeping a three-game
Mountain West series from Air Force.
Sam Houston State went 4-0, winning
at No. 17 Houston before taking three Southland contests from Southeastern
Louisiana.
Virginia was 4-1, winning at VCU and
beating Richmond at home before taking two of three at fifth-ranked Florida
State in ACC action.
TCU went 4-0 to extend its win
streak to eight. The Horned Frogs topped Texas Tech before sweeping a three-game
series from Cal State Northridge.
Oregon State was 4-1, splitting a
pair at Sacramento State before sweeping a three-game Pac-12 set from No. 9
Oregon.
Bryant went 5-0 to stretch its win
streak to nine. The Bulldogs beat Rhode Island before sweeping a four-game NEC
set from Mount St. M Mary’s.
Texas A&M had a 3-1 week, winning at
No. 14 Rice before taking two of three at Mississippi State in SEC play.
Kennesaw State put together a 4-0
week, beating Georgia and sweeping a three-game A-Sun set from ETSU to extend
its win streak to 11.
Army was 4-1, downing Marist before
taking three of four at Navy in the final weekend of the regular season in the
Patriot League.
Evansville went 4-0 with a win over
Murray State and a three-game sweep of Bradley in Missouri Valley play.
