Team of the Week
Pepperdine
is CBI Louisville Slugger Team of Week
Pepperdine picked up four wins – including three at the Dodgertown Classic – and
has been named the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Louisville Slugger Team of the
Week for games played March 3-9.
The Waves (12-3) knocked off UNC Wilmington 2-1 on Tuesday before slipping past
UCLA 8-7 on Friday. Pepperdine then beat USC 10-4 and Houston 3-0 to complete a
perfect week.
Regional Teams of the Week
Northeast: Saint Louis
has won five in a row after sweeping four games last week from North Dakota.
Southeast: Samford
posted a 5-0 week, beating in-state rivals Troy and Jacksonville State before
sweeping Louisiana-Monroe over the weekend.
Central: Texas Tech,
our national team of the week the first week of the season, rolled to a 5-0
week, beating New Mexico once and sweeping four games from New Mexico State.
West: Loyola Marymount went 5-0 last week, beating UCLA and Cal State
Northridge before sweeping three games from Northern Kentucky.
Honorable Mention
Liberty
went 4-0 with a midweek win at Duke and a sweep of Kent State.
North Carolina Central
topped Longwood before taking two of three at MEAC power Bethune-Cookman.
Miami (Fla.)
went 2-0 vs. Villanova, which included a perfect game, and swept Boston College
in ACC play.
Lipscomb
knocked off Western Kentucky and swept a four-game set with Oakland.
UC Santa Barbara
split a pair of games with Arizona and went 2-0 against Mississippi State over
the weekend.
Washington
picked up two wins against Santa Clara and single wins over San Jose State and
Pacific at Santa Clara’s tourney.
Western Kentucky
lost at Lipscomb, but rebounded to sweep a three-game series against Illinois.
San Francisco
topped Arkansas, Cal and Tulane at Cal’s weekend tournament.
Georgia
reeled off a 5-0 week, beating rival Georgia Tech and Charleston Southern before
topping Buffalo, North Florida and Western Carolina at the Bulldog Inviational.
FIU
won at Bethune-Cookman and then swept a three-game set at Charlotte.
