Fullerton is CBI Louisville Slugger Team of
Week
Cal State Fullerton, which had fallen from No. 1 to No. 8 in last week’s CBI
Composite Poll, rebounded in a big way by sweeping three games at No. 6 Oregon.
The Titans have been named the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Louisville Slugger
Team of the Week for games played Feb. 24-March 2.
Fullerton (7-3) posted a 9-2 win on Friday before earning one-run wins over the
Ducks on Saturday and Sunday.
Regional Teams of the Week
Northeast: Seton Hall
remained hot by sweeping three games at Arizona by scores of 9-1, 4-2 and 11-2.
Southeast: Louisiana
had a great showing against SEC foes, winning at No. 4 LSU and taking two of
three at home against Alabama.
Central: Texas
was named champion of the Houston College Classic after winning three close wins
over Houston, Rice and Sam Houston State. The Longhorns also beat UTPA and
allowed five runs in four wins on the week.
West: Fresno State welcomed Texas A&M of the SEC and swept the Aggies,
including shutouts in the first and third games. The Bulldogs have won six in a
row.
Honorable Mention
Illinois
went 4-0 at the Florida Tournament, picking up two wins over Florida Gulf Coast
and two over the host Gators. The Illini allowed four runs in four games.
South Carolina
played rival Clemson at home, on the road and on a neutral field. The result was
the same each time as the Gamecocks swept.
Ole Miss
went 5-0, including a pair of wins against Louisiana-Monroe and a three-game
home sweep of UCF.
Tennessee Tech
has a 10-game winning streak after a win over Lipscomb and three at home against
Northwestern.
Canisius
rolled into East Tennessee State and left with a three-game sweep.
West Virginia
picked up early-season tourney wins over Duke, Coastal Carolina and James
Madison in a three-win week.
Memphis
is 10-1 after going 4-0 last week, with a win over Belmont and three against
Southeast Missouri.
Indiana State
stayed red-hot with three wins at New Orleans to stretch its win streak to nine
games.
Iowa
went 3-0 at the Stetson Invitational, with wins over Stetson, Maine and Furman.
Creighton
picked up three road wins at Charlotte
