Ohio State is CBI Louisville Slugger Team of
Week
Ohio
State picked up three wins at the UCF Baseball Tournament and has been named the
CollegeBaseballInsider.com Louisville Slugger Team of the Week for games played
Feb. 18-23.
The
Buckeyes won a 13-innings affair with UCF 9-3 before edging The Citadel 5-4 and
Oklahoma 6-3.
Regional Teams of the Week
Northeast: Holy Cross
dropped
its first two games at fifth-ranked Mississippi State before beating the
Bulldogs 7-6 and 6-1 to earn a series split with last year’s NCAA finalist.
Southeast: South Carolina
didn’t allow a run last week in going 4-0 with a win over Presbyterian and three
wins over Eastern Kentucky.
Central: Houston
stayed hot by going 4-0, including a win against No. 15 Rice and a home sweep of
Michigan.
West: Cal Poly is the Regional Team of the Week for the second straight
week after a 3-1 week that saw the Mustangs beat Santa Clara and win two of
three at No. 11 UCLA.
Honorable Mention
Louisiana
posted four
road wins, one at Northwestern State and a three-game sweep at Southern Miss.
Alabama State
started the week with wins against South Alabama and Auburn before splitting a
four-game set at Pacific.
USC
knocked off No. 1
Cal State Fullerton and went 3-0 against North Dakota State.
Georgia Southern
went
5-0, with a win against Georgia Tech and four vs. Maryland Eastern Shore.
USF
picked up four
wins against Florida Gulf Coast (1) and Penn State (3).
Mercer
went 5-0,
with two wins against Florida A&M and three against Evansville.
High Point
earned a
win against Charlotte and won its series against William & Mary in a 3-1 week.
Indiana State
stayed red-hot with three road wins over Lipscomb, Belmont and Middle Tennessee.
Wofford
had a 4-0
week that included a victory against Gardner-Webb and wins against Butler,
Fordham and Presbyterian in the Terriers’ tourney.
