Southern Miss
named CBI Team of the Week
After
going 4-0, including a three-game sweep at UCF, Southern Miss is the
CollegeBaseballInsider.com Team of the Week.
The Golden Eagles started the week with 4-3 win over Ole Miss in
10 innings on Wednesday. Southern Miss then headed to Orlando for its second
Conference USA series. The Eagles won 6-5 on Friday, 13-2 on Saturday and 5-2 on
Sunday against the Knights to improve to 5-1 in league play and 22-5 overall.
Southern Miss entered the CBI Composite Poll at No. 17.
Regional Teams of the Week
Northeast: Charlotte defeated No. 11
North Carolina at home on Tuesday before sweeping a three-game Atlantic 10 set
from Xavier.
Southeast: Coastal Carolina bounced
back from a Big South series loss last weekend to UNC Asheville to sweep
first-place Liberty.
Central: Houston rebounded from a
loss at Rice to sweep a three-game Conference USA series at Tulane.
West: No. 6 Arizona State swept a
three-game Pac-10 set from Oregon.

Princeton won at Seton Hall before
winning Ivy League doubleheaders against Brown and Yale to start conference
play.
No. 1 Vanderbilt topped UT-Martin
before sweeping a three-game SEC set at Auburn.
Louisiana-Lafayette beat
Northwestern State before taking three from Sun Belt preseason favorite Florida
Atlantic.
Oregon State began Pac-10 play by
winning two of three at No. 16 Arizona.
Connecticut won at Hartford before
sweeping a three-game Big East series from St. John’s.
Kent State swept a three-game MAC
series at West Division leader Western Michigan.
ETSU took two of three from Atlantic
Sun preseason favorite FGCU.
Georgia rebounded from a loss at No.
20 Clemson to sweep an SEC set from Mississippi State.
Army lost to Stony Brook before
beating Siena and sweeping a four-game Patriot League set from Holy Cross.
Indiana topped Northern Kentucky and
Shawnee State prior to taking two of three at Michigan to open Big Ten play.
