Florida named CBI Team of the Week
After
posting an impressive 4-0 week against Top Ten opponents, Florida is the
CollegeBaseballInsider.com Team of the Week.
The top-ranked Gators began the week by edging No. 5 Florida
State 5-4 in 10 innings on Tuesday. Florida then accomplished a first in program
history, sweeping a series at LSU. The Gators nipped the seventh-ranked Tigers
5-4 on Friday and 1-0 on Saturday before completing the sweep on Sunday with a
7-3 decision. Florida is 18-2, matching its highest win total after 20 games.
Regional Teams of the Week
Northeast: Xavier beat Miami (Ohio)
and Youngstown State before taking two of three at Louisville.
Southeast: Samford got a pair of
victories over UAB before winning two of three in a Southern Conference series
against Georgia Southern.
Central: Stephen F. Austin stretched
its win streak to 11 with two triumphs over Texas Southern and a three-game
Southland sweep at Northwestern State, with all three going extra innings.
West: Air Force split two contests
with Creighton before sweeping a four-game set from Portland.
Honorable Mention
Southern Miss extended its win
streak to seven with a victory at Northwestern State and wins over Rhode Island,
Connecticut and the host in the College of Charleston Tournament.
No. 6 Virginia defeated James
Madison before taking two of three ACC contests from No. 5 Florida State.
No. 12 Texas A&M topped No. 16 Cal
State Fullerton before opening Big 12 play by winning two of three at No. 3
Oklahoma.
Penn State headed to the Midwest and
won two of three at Wichita State.
No. 9 Arizona State took two from
No. 3 Oklahoma before capturing two of three from Oral Roberts.
Stetson split a pair with Siena
before sweeping a three-game series from Atlantic Sun favorite Mercer.
Davidson went to Charleston and won
two of three Southern Conference contests at The Citadel.
Georgetown stretched its win streak
to six with a win over George Washington and a three-game sweep of Princeton.
Marist extended its win streak to 11
by taking two at Towson and three at George Washington.
Texas Tech topped Texas A&M-Corpus
Christi before winning two of three at Baylor.
