Team of the Week
Clemson
went 4-0 this past week, including a three-game ACC sweep of No. 8 Florida
State, and was named CollegeBaseballInsider.com Team of the Week.
The Tigers, under head coach Jack Leggett (right), started the
week with an 8-2 win at home over Presbyterian. Clemson then had the Seminoles
come to town. The Tigers posted a 9-8 win on Thursday, an 8-4 victory on Friday
and completed the sweep with an 8-3 decision on Saturday. Clemson tied Florida
State for the top spot in the Atlantic Division and earned the No. 2 seed in the
ACC Tournament.
Honorable Mention goes to No. 17 Auburn, which defeated
Jacksonville State before sweeping a three-game set at No. 18 Ole Miss to secure
first place in the SEC Western Division and the No. 2 seed in the SEC
Tournament. Bethune-Cookman won the MEAC title for the fifth straight season and
10th time in the past 11 years. Bucknell won two of three at Holy Cross to
capture the Patriot League crown. No. 2 Virginia took two of three at No. 13
Miami (Fla.) to secure the No. 1 seed in the ACC Tournament. No. 5 Florida
defeated UNF before winning two of three at No. 6 South Carolina to clinch the
No. 1 seed in the SEC Tournament. No. 12 Louisville topped Eastern Kentucky
before sweeping a three-game set at Notre Dame to earn the No. 1 seed for the
Big East Tournament. The Citadel beat Winthrop before sweeping a three-game
series at Georgia Southern to win the regular-season crown in the Southern
Conference. Bryant won three of four against second-place Sacred Heart to win
the NEC regular-season title. Minnesota took two of three at Ohio State to
finish on top in the Big Ten standings. Tennessee Tech defeated Western Carolina
before sweeping a three-game series from Murray State to claim the OVC
regular-season title. Binghamton swept a three-game set at Stony Brook to extend
its win streak to 14 and secure home field for the America East Tournament.
James Madison won at East Carolina before taking two of three at VCU to finish
on top in the Colonial. Northwestern State won at ULM before sweeping a
three-game series at Southeastern Louisiana to leapfrog the Lions into second
place in the Southland. Xavier swept a three-game set at Saint Joseph’s to
stretch its win streak to eight and secure second place in the Atlantic 10. No.
14 Oklahoma defeated No. 15 Arkansas and Texas Southern before sweeping a
three-game series at Kansas to finish second in the Big 12. Alabama won three at
Tennessee to secure a spot in the SEC Tournament. North Carolina defeated
Charlotte before sweeping a three-game ACC series from No. 16 Virginia Tech.
