Team of the Week
Stanford
put together a 4-0 week on the road, including three wins at No. 16 Oregon
State, and was named CollegeBaseballInsider.com Team of the Week.
The Cardinal, under head coach Mark Marquess (right), started the
week with a 14-0 victory at Santa Clara on Tuesday. Stanford then swept its
three-game Pac-10 series at Oregon State, winning 14-6 on Friday, taking a 5-3
decision in 10 innings on Saturday before completing the weekend with a 10-7
victory on Sunday to move into a third-place tie in the Pac-10 standings.
Honorable Mention goes to Florida Atlantic, which defeated Lynn
and swept a three-game Sun Belt series from No. 19 Western Kentucky. No. 5
Georgia Tech won at Georgia before sweeping a three-game set with No. 17
Clemson. Connecticut defeated Hartford and Brown before winning three at
Georgetown to remain in a tie for first in the Big East and extend its win
streak to 15. No. 4 Texas defeated Texas State before sweeping a three-game Big
12 series from Texas A&M to stretch its win streak to 12. No. 8 Arkansas took
two from New Mexico before winning three against Georgia in extending its win
streak to 11. Oregon won two of three at No. 2 UCLA. Charlotte won against
Winthrop before taking three from Dayton to climb into first in the Atlantic 10.
Rutgers beat Fordham prior to a three-game sweep of USF to stay in a first-place
tie in the Big East. No. 10 South Carolina won at The Citadel before taking two
of three from No. 18 Ole Miss. No. 11 Coastal Carolina defeated The Citadel and
won at North Carolina before winning three at Gardner-Webb. Centenary swept a
four-game set from North Dakota State to stretch its win streak to seven and
move into first in the Summit. No. 15 Miami (Fla.) won at FGCU before sweeping a
three-game series at North Carolina. No. 6 LSU topped Tulane prior to a
three-game sweep of Alabama. No. 13 Louisville won at Western Kentucky before
taking three at West Virginia. Pacific defeated Sacramento State before winning
two of three at UC Irvine. Liberty bounced back from a loss to Elon to sweep a
three-game Big South series against VMI. Army topped Iona before taking four
from Lehigh to extend its lead in the Patriot League. Northwestern State won at
Jackson State before winning three against UTSA to sit in second in the
Southland. Ohio State won two of three at Michigan State for a first-place tie
in the Big Ten with Michigan, which beat Toledo and Bowling Green before taking
two of three at Illinois. Wagner won at Seton Hall before taking three of four
from Monmouth for first place in the Northeast Conference. Illinois State
rebounded from a loss to Purdue to sweep three from Southern Illinois for first
in the Missouri Valley Conference.
