Team of the Week
Elon
went 5-0 on the road, including two wins at No. 8 Clemson and two extra-inning
victories, and was named CollegeBaseballInsider.com Team of the Week.
The Phoenix, under head coach Mike Kennedy (left), outscored the
Tigers 15-10 on Tuesday and eked out a 4-3 victory in 10 innings on Wednesday.
Elon then traveled to Davidson for a three-game Southern Conference set. The
Wildcats has won their first two league series, but could not stop the Phoenix.
Elon won 8-3 on Friday and swept a doubleheader on Saturday, taking the opener
12-4 before prevailing 4-2 in 11 innings in the nightcap.
Honorable Mention goes to No. 16 Arkansas, which won twice at
McNeese State before sweeping a SEC series with No. 17 Alabama. No. 3 Georgia
Tech took two from Mercer before winning three ACC contests at North Carolina.
San Diego beat UC Riverside before taking two of three at No. 12 Coastal
Carolina. No. 18 Ole Miss topped Saint Louis before winning two of three against
No. 5 Florida. No. 1 Virginia got by Marshall before taking two of three from
No. 8 Clemson. Kansas State said good-bye to Newman and swept a three-game Big
12 set from Oklahoma State. Nevada took two of three from No. 20 UC Irvine.
Villanova topped Penn prior to taking two of three from Cincinnati in Big East
action. Texas State rebounded from a mid-week loss at No. 10 TCU to sweep a
three-game Southland series from Lamar. The Citadel bounced back from a loss to
No. 12 Coastal Carolina to defeat Winthrop and take three from Appalachian
State. La Salle split two with Maryland-Eastern Shore before sweeping a
three-game Atlantic-10 set from preseason favorite Dayton. USF stopped UNF
before taking three from Notre Dame, including a no-hitter on Friday. No. 4 LSU
defeated Louisiana-Lafayette before winning three at Tennessee. Western Kentucky
won at Murray State prior to its three-game sweep of ULM. Pittsburgh popped Penn
State before taking three from St. John’s. Oral Roberts beat Wichita State twice
and North Dakota three times. UNC Asheville topped NC Central before taking two
of three from Liberty. Pacific stopped Stanford before three wins over San Jose
State. Toledo topped Dayton and Oakland before taking two of three from Kent
State. Washington won at Seattle and swept a three-game set at Dallas Baptist.
Sam Houston State defeated Houston Baptist and Prairie View A&M before sweeping
a three-game Southland set at UTSA. Louisiana Tech defeated Grambling State
before taking two of three at Minnesota, including winning the first game at
Target Field.
