Team of the Week
Florida
State posted four wins against SEC competition, including one against in-state
rival Florida, to be named CollegeBaseballInsider.com Team of the Week.
The Seminoles, now second in the CBI Composite Poll, defeated the
Gators 10-5 on Tuesday in Tampa. After an exhibition game with the Philadelphia
Phillies on Wednesday, FSU swept a three-game series from Georgia in
Tallahassee. The Seminoles won 12-1 on Friday, 9-2 on Saturday and 17-5 on
Sunday.
Honorable Mention goes to Houston, which rebounded from at loss
at No. 19 Rice on Tuesday to defeat Missouri, No. 4 Texas and Texas Tech, all
from the Big 12, in the Houston College Classic at Minute Maid Park. No. 10
Clemson defeated Dayton and two two of three from South Carolina. No. 17 UCLA
swept a three-game set from Nebraska to raise its record to 9-0. No. 5 Arizona
State beat Cal Poly, No. 14 Oregon State, UC Riverside and FIU in the Coca-Cola
Classic in Surprise, Ariz. Manhattan went 3-1 at Delaware, including recording
three wins on Sunday. Vanderbilt topped Tennessee Tech and defeated Kent State,
Illinois State and Indiana in the Music City Classic. ETSU took two of three at
home from St. John’s. Oregon split two games with Washington and swept a
four-game set at Fresno State. Oklahoma went 5-0 with two wins over USF and
single victories over UT Arlington, Western Illinois and Stephen F. Austin.
Connecticut swept a three-game series at Cal State Northridge. Central Michigan
went 3-0 at UCF. Akron split with Stony Brook and won twice at UNC Wilmington.
Bradley swept a three-game set at Tennessee Tech. Belmont defeated Murray State
and Western Kentucky before taking two of three from Eastern Michigan. Milwaukee
won at Minnesota and lost at Austin Peay before taking two from SIU Edwardsville
and getting a win over Dayton.
