Missouri State Named CBI
Team of the Week
After putting together a 4-0 week, including a three-game
Missouri Valley Conference sweep at Creighton, Missouri State is the
CollegeBaseballInsider.com Team of the Week.
The Bears defeated Missouri 10-5 on Tuesday to start the week.
The Bluejays were in first place in the MVC when the series started. Missouri
State won 6-5 on Friday, 10-7 on Saturday and 8-3 on Sunday to move into second
place, one game behind new leader Indiana State. The Bears host the Sycamores
this week to determine the regular-season champ and the top seed in the MVC
Tournament.
Honorable mention goes to Bethune-Cookman, which defeated UNF and
lost at Jacksonville before taking two of three at No. 18 Miami (Fla.). Texas
State won at Rice and swept a three-game set from Nicholls State to win the
regular-season Southland title. Elon bounced back from a loss at No. 2 North
Carolina to sweep a three-game SoCon series at Western Carolina. Minnesota
defeated North Dakota State before taking two of three at defending conference
champ Michigan to move into first in the Big Ten. Florida Gulf Coast defeated
Florida Atlantic and won at No. 11 Florida before taking two of three at
second-place Kennesaw State to stay in first in the Atlantic Sun. Alabama swept
a three-game SEC set from No. 12 Arkansas. Louisville swept a two-game set from
Ohio State before taking two of three at St. John’s. Bowling Green won three at
Buffalo to extend its win streak to six and rise to first in the MAC Eastern
Division. Georgia Tech won two of three ACC contests against No. 10 Florida
State. LSU took two of three SEC games from No. 11 Florida. Texas topped Texas
Southern before taking two of three from No. 14 Texas A&M.
