Cal State Fullerton Named CBI
Team of the Week
Cal State Fullerton had a 4-1 week to complete an eight-game road
trip with a 7-1 mark and has been named the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Team of
the Week.
The Titans began their week with a 15-5 win at No. 6 Texas A&M on
Tuesday. Over the weekend, Fullerton played in the Oklahoma State Tournament in
Stillwater, Okla. On Friday, the Titans beat Rhode Island 17-3 and topped the
No. 12 Cowboys 8-4. Fullerton fell to OSU 10-6 on Saturday before edging the
Rams 4-3 on Sunday to raise its record to 13-3, including 9-1 away from home.
Honorable mention goes to Minnesota, which won at No. 14 TCU on
Saturday and Sunday. Arkansas rebounded from a loss at Centenary to sweep a
three-game SEC series from No. 19 Florida. Virginia defeated VMI, Navy and
Florida State to remain unbeaten at 15-0. Texas A&M bounced back from its loss
to Cal State Fullerton to take the first two games of its Big 12 series with No.
11 Baylor. San Diego State won at UCLA before sweeping a three-game Mountain
West series from UNLV. Sam Houston State won at Houston and took two of three in
its Southland series at Texas State. Monmouth bounced back from a loss at
Florida Atlantic to win two at Navy and take two from Massachusetts. Mississippi
State took two from Valparaiso and won two of three from SEC-rival No. 23 South
Carolina. Ohio State went 4-0 in Florida, with wins over Pittsburgh, SIU
Edwardsville, UMBC and North Dakota State. Eastern Kentucky also enjoyed success
in the Sunshine State, bouncing back from a loss to Sacred Heart to record
victories over Bucknell, Vermont, Connecticut and Toledo.
