18 Former Division I Players on
World Series Rosters
There
are 18 former Division I players among the 50 major leaguers
listed on the World Series rosters, the same total as a year ago.
The St. Louis Cardinals have 11
former Division I players on their 25-man World Series roster,
including Lance Lynn from Ole Miss (right). The Texas Rangers
have seven.
There are 17 Division I schools which have at
least one alum in the postseason. There is only one school with
two players, UC Santa Barbara.
Arkansas is the only school to have
had alums in each of the past three World Series. Former Razorback
Craig Gentry is an outfielder with the Rangers, while Cliff Lee
pitched for the Philadelphia Phillies in 2009 and for Texas in
2010.
There are five players from the SEC, four from
the Big West, two from the Big 12 and one each from the
ACC, Conference USA, Metro Atlantic, Pac-12, Southland, Sun Belt and West Coast.
