Nearly 350 Former Division I
Players in Major Leagues
In taking another look at the active rosters and
disabled lists of the 30 Major
League teams on August 27, there are 340 who played Division I
baseball.
There are 143 Division I schools which have at
least one alum in the major leagues. LSU leads the way with 12
big-leaguers, followed by Long Beach State and USC with nine.
Cal State Fullerton and Tennessee have eight. There are seven
major leaguers from Florida State, Miami (Fla.), Nevada,
Oklahoma, Stanford and UCLA. California, Georgia Tech and
Pepperdine have six.
Arizona has 18 Division I players, including 17
among its active roster of 25. Boston has 17, including 14 on
its active roster. Toronto also has 17, with 13 on its active
roster. San Francisco has 16, with 14 on its active roster.
Houston and Oakland both have 15 on their active rosters.
The Los Angeles Angels have five former Division I players on
its active roster. Atlanta and Texas each have four on their
active rosters.
