Dee Signs Five-Year Contract
Extension at UIC
UIC
head coach Mike Dee has received a five-year contract extension
for UIC.
Dee enters his 16th season with the Flames, the
longest tenured skipper in the Horizon League. He has guided UIC
to 10 regular season titles and four conference tournament
championships. Dee has been Horizon League Coach of the Year
eight times and has mentored 74 all-conference performers. Dee
has guided UIC to four NCAA Tournament berths, including tourney
victories in 2007 and 2008.
In February, Dee and UIC Hall-of-Famer Curtis
Granderson (pictured above) announced the Curtis Granderson
Stadium Project. The facility will break ground in September and
will partner with Major League Baseball’s Reviving Baseball in
Inner Cities (RBI) and Urban Youth Academy programs.
Prior to his time at UIC, Dee spent 11 seasons as
pitching coach at Minnesota. He was a three-year letterman and
NAIA All-American at Wisconsin-La Crosse, graduating in 1979.
