New Orleans Names Peddie Head
Coach
Associate head coach Bruce Peddie has been
promoted to head coach at New Orleans.
Peddie replaces Tom Walter, who resigned to
become head coach at Wake Forest.
Peddie has been associate head coach of the
Privateers for the past three years, working with hitters and
handling recruiting. He helped UNO earn an NCAA Tournament bid
in 2008 for the first time since 2000.
Before coming to UNO, Peddie was head coach at
Division II Shippensburg (Pa.). He earned five NCAA tourney bids
in 11 seasons and reached the College World Series in 1996.
Peddie is a 1987 graduate of Mansfield and was an
assistant coach at his alma mater from 1989 to 1995. The
Mounties appeared in four NCAA Regionals and reached the CWS
three times.
Peddie and his wife, Laurie, have twin daughters:
Carly and Annie.
