Florida
State head coach Mike Martin (right) recently received a
three-year contract extension through the 2015 season.
Martin just completed his 33rd campaign as head
coach at his alma mater, guiding the Seminoles to their 21st
College World Series appearance and third in the past five
years. FSU posted a record of 50-17 overall and 24-6 in the ACC.
It was the 24th season of at least 50 victories for the
Seminoles, all under Martin.
In his 33 seasons in Tallahassee, Martin has
compiled 1,723 victories, a winning percentage of .743, 33
consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and 15 trips to the
College World Series in Omaha. Martin was inducted into the
American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2007.
Martin was named ACC Coach of the Year this past
season, the seventh time he has received the honor. He was Metro
Conference Coach of the Year six times. Martin has mentored 84
All-Americans and seven National Players of the Year: Mike
Fuentes, Mike Loynd, J.D. Drew, Shane Robinson, Tony Thomas,
