McCormack earns contract
extension at FAU
Florida
Atlantic head coach John McCormack (right) has received a
four-year contract extension through the 2016 season.
McCormack has led the Owls to 131 victories in
his first four seasons, including 69-47 (.595) in Sun Belt
Conference contests. That is the top winning percentage during
that span. McCormack has led FAU to a pair of Sun Belt
Conference regular season titles and one NCAA Regional
appearance.
FAU was 32-22 this past season, including a
three-game sweep at Alabama of the SEC to start the season. The
Owls were 19-8 in the Sun Belt, capturing the regular season
crown.
Prior to becoming head coach in 2009, McCormack
was an assistant at FAU since 1991. He was associate head coach
for 11 years. The Owls have posted 14 consecutive winning
seasons. FAU has had 89 players reach professional baseball
during McCormack’s tenure, including a pair currently in the
major leagues.
