Duffy named head coach at
Manhattan
Jim Duffy is the new head coach at Manhattan
after seven seasons as an assistant at Seton Hall.
Duffy worked with the hitters and outfielders at
Seton Hall and assisted with recruiting, scouting and team
travel. He was head coach of the Monmouth Monarchs of the ABCCL
collegiate summer league from 2004-10.
A four-year starter for the Pirates at first
base, Duffy graduated from Seton Hall in 1996. He is the
school’s career leader with 1,387 putouts and is second in hits
(247) and at-bats (709) and fifth in runs (165). Duffy was a
three-time All-Big East selection and was an All-American in
1995 while finishing ninth in the nation with a batting average
of .429.
Duffy signed a free agent contract with the
Houston Astros in 1997 and spent four years in their system.
Duffy replaces Kevin Leighton, who resigned to
become head coach at Fordham.
