2013 Coaching Changes
Pawlowski
out at Auburn
John
Pawlowski (left), head coach at Auburn for the past five
seasons, has been dismissed by the school.
Pawlowski posted an overall
record of 167-126 and went 71-79 in the SEC. The Tigers won the
SEC Western Division in 2012 and earned an NCAA Regional berth.
Auburn was 33-23 this past season, including a
13-17 conference mark. The Tigers were last in the SEC Western
Division and did not receive a bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Prior to his arrival at Auburn, Pawlowski was
338-192-1 in nine seasons as head coach at College of
Charleston. The Cougars won four Southern Conference crowns and
went to three NCAA Tournament. CofC won the 2006 Lexington
Regional and advanced to its first Super Regional against
Georgia Tech in Atlanta.
Pawlowski pitched at
Clemson from 1983-85 and spent eight seasons in professional
baseball. He returned to Clemson to complete his degree and
coach from 1994-98. Pawlowski was pitching coach at Arizona
State in 1999 before heading to Charleston.
Expect Pawlowski's name to be mentioned for the
head coaching position at Cincinnati. UC Director of Athletics
Whit Babcock is a former Auburn administrator.
