Aoki Expected to Take Over at
Notre Dame
Notre Dame hasn't announced anything official
regarding its baseball coaching vacancy, but Boston College's
Mik Aoki is expected to be announced as the Fighting Irish's new
coach as early as Thursday.
Boston College players were informed Tuesday night Aoki would be
leaving and were told that Aoki would be contacting each one of
them on Wednesday.
Notre Dame dismissed Dave Schrage after four seasons (119-104-1)
in South Bend. Over the same span, Aoki has gone 114-104-1 at
Boston College. The Eagles reached the 2009 NCAA Tournament and
lost to Texas at the Austin Regional in a 25-inning affair, the
longest game in college baseball history.
Boston College was 30-28 in 2010, including 14-16
in the ACC. The Eagles went 1-2 in the ACC Tournament, but did
not earn an NCAA bid.
Notre Dame went 22-32 this past season, including
10-17 in the Big East. The Fighting Irish did not make the Big
East tourney field.
