Anderson fired at Nebraska

Nebraska head coach Mike Anderson and his staff have been relieved of their duties by Athletic Director Tom Osborne.

The Cornhuskers were 30-25 overall and 9-17 in their final season in the Big 12. Nebraska finished ninth out of the 10 teams which compete in baseball.

Anderson spent nine seasons as head coach of the Huskers, posting a record of 337-196-2 with a pair of Big 12 championships (2003, 2005) and a trip to the College World Series in 2003. Nebraska won a school-record 57 games in 2003 and registered its first CWS win. The Huskers reached the NCAA Regionals in five of Anderson’s first six seasons, but none in the past three years.

Anderson was an assistant at Nebraska for eight seasons from 1995 to 2002 before his elevation to head coach in June of 2002.

The search for a replacement begins immediately.
